Who in the heck uses a motor winder/drive on a film camera these days?

They're not stoopid. For 6 seconds of motordrive pleasure - $10/film + $10/process + $20 decent scans = $40. $40 for 6 seconds....

As noted as film prices have increased I use the motor drive on high speed with caution, sports, other action, some wildlife situations, other wise I leave it set to S. I'm going to a Rodeo in a couple of weeks, I will shoot with my Minolta 900 with motor drive and maybe bulk film back, will use Fineness 400.

Most of the drives I've run across that have a C "continuous" setting, are only continuous if you keep the shutter button pressed. So the C setting only "wastes" film if you let it. And it's there when you need it.

Hey, I can FULLY understand the joy of snapping off dozens of shots with some great old high speed film camera. I just wouldn't do that with good film loaded.

I admit to being overly concerned about the dollars per second rating of these cameras, rather than the fps rating, but that's just me being silly.

Not silly at all. On the opposite side of the spectrum, this Man Has 1,580 Kodachrome Rolls Developed as Processing Ends for a cost of $15,798. Some people like taking pictures of trains!

Don't overlook the possibility that everyone here has already lost their marbles and are just welcoming you to the asylum.

Analog Photographers are the one group of folks that willingly wear their albatross around their neck and are happy about it.

Funny thing I have never even used the continuous motor drive setting on my, pardon my French, digital cameras either! So it has nothing to do w saving film, but to be ready for the next shot w/o disturbing composition.

Until a few years ago I was one of them kids. I think I'm not anymore. The MD gives street cred though. If you're walking around lugging 10 batteries in a metal box screwed onto the bottom the camera it's beyond cool. Just don't hit the 'C' switch or you're out of something like $50.

Bulk rolled Vision3 250D, $6.75 at Ultrafine's current price + $2.90 home processing with Ultrafine kit + free home scanning = $9.65.
