Hi all,

There are many post across the 'net regarding mercury battery replacement and the use of a 1N34 or NTE109 germanium diode in the battery circuit. My Konica Auto S2 has four wires attached to the battery holder / check switch; red, black (two), blue and green. Which wire should have the diode?

Well, while removing the battery holder, I broke off the red wire. I stripped off approximately 1/4” and the wire is corroded. Cut that off and stripped another 1/4” also corroded. Now off to explore what is involved in replacing the wire.
