I have a roll of Rollei 120 film. I shot it at 400. The paper starts dark green and then is black until then end where it has a dark green bar. The film is at least five years old. How long should I develop it in stock XTOL?

When you load it on the reel and put the lid on the tank you will have the backing paper left over. Check what it says on the backing paper at the 'other' end of it, the one you can't see when the film has rolled through the camera. If the paper doesn't have any name or coding on it anywhere to confirm it's type don't worry too much as piu58 is probably right, in his post above.

I stated what the paper had. So how long do I process in XTOL?

I thought you described the film roll after it had been shot, the tail end of the backing paper in other words. The beginning of the backing paper would usually have the name of the film on it surely?

The beginning of the paper does not have any words.

Have you developed it yet? Massive dev chart suggets Superpan200 @ 400, 21 minutes in xtol 1+2.
http://www.digitaltruth.com/devchart.php?Film=Rollei+Superpan+200&Developer=&mdc=Search&TempUnits=F

If it is R3 @ 400, then 24-29 minutes in xtol 1+2. Not that far apart.

I take it you are hoping for someone with better working knowledge of this than relying on guesses and the dev chart. I had developed 1 roll of Rollei R3 with that backing paper - but that does not mean it isn't Superpan 200 (there could be a few different films with the same paper).

For me, I had developed it for a friend who really likes Rodinal, and did exactly what he wanted as far as dilution and time (1:50 for about 8 minutes I think) - and it did not come out very good (though there is reason to suspect his camera had under-exposed as well).

Sorry I can't be of further help.

I took the roll paper ti Samys and they think that is color or black & white lomo film.

What are the development times for stock XTOL or replenished XTOL for R3 and SuperPan 200? I cannot find that.

Lomo? Hmm, could be made by anyone, lol. Sorry, I couldn't find anything for stock or replenished. Is there some sort of equation for xtol dilutions to get in the ball park (sort of like the Coventon page on HC-110)?

The only thing I can think of is try to figure out what other films are similar, see if the Dev Chart gives times for them in stock or replenished xtol, and try to extrapolate and average. Do you have another roll you can do a test with?

You're far better at this sort of thing than I am, so I hope someone else can join in with better ideas.

I cut off a piece and developed it. There was no rebate markings. I developed the roll in stock XTOL for 10 minutes. It turned out a bit thin because I exposed it at 400. It was R3.

At least some of them appear to be printable on a quick inspection when I hung the film.

I'm confused, if you already know it's superpan200 why are you still asking what to do? Or do you not believe Plu58?

See post #12. It is R3.

Sirius, I'm glad some should be printable for you.

As I said above, you are better at these sorts of things than I, so... what would you do differently next time? The coworker who had me develop a roll of this for him has more, and might ask me to develop for him again in the future (his brother had gone to Europe a couple years ago and brought him back a box of Rollei, including 80s and R3).

I don't have X-tol, and he loves Rodinal (though I do have other developers) - but neither of us have a good idea on how to do R3. It seems there isn't much information compared to other films, and R3 seemed a bit finicky for someone at my skill level (low).

Stone, I think part of it is using a mobile device - it can be more awkward to skim over previous posts, and easier to read the last; thus easier to miss information.
However, it may be worth the effort by getting fewer reproachments

(I'm not trying to insult you or anything, I've no quarrel with you - just offering a thought.)

No it's all true, not offended at all.
