Just because when I saw the latest addition to my camera collection I looked at it with lust but knew that I had to have another one, it doesn't mean anything. OK I can't be bothered to bid on Ebay if I can help it and I do fly into a rage when I see the stupid prices that some sell for. I envy those that purchased these beauties brand new, with a bit of cleaning it will be better than some others have so I can pride myself on the restoration. All this typing has made me hungry as this tin of chocolate biscuits is now empty, time to find another packet.

Now what was the question?

no, no, no - scrap those - they're not sins, just human nature.

I could say something about Intollerance being the only deadly sin ... but in reality the only True deadly sin is Closing Time ("time at the bar ladies and gentleman please") on a friday night.

Being pure of both mind and heart, I am unfamiliar with the sins to which you refer, and thus unqualified to vote.

Yeah, right!

running out of film...seriously though, in my opinion, pride is the most deadly sin. For a detailed explanation of why, watch the movie The Devil's Advocate with Keanu Reeves, Al Pacino and Charlize Theron. Watch the entire movie...it's not an easy movie to watch but you have to get all the way to the very end to "get it".

All were human attributes that the Catholic Church tried to control in it's quest to control the ignorant masses.

All these "sins" could easily be attributed to the Church as well.

Cleaning a really fine lens with some spit on that piece of old tissue that you found hiding in the bottom of your pocket.

Or, if you ascribe to the anthropological roots of religion, you might say that the explication of the 7 deadly sins are an attempt by man to control himself.

As an aside, I read an offbeat new age sort of book years ago, entitled "The Monk" some sort of Lucifer vs. God with the battleground being Earth, sort of thing.

Lucifer, in an introspective sort of way, ruminated that his job was ever so much easier whenever they were in an historical period on earth when people didn't believe in Hell.

something to think about...

OH I believe in Hell ... it's when I run out of film and on the way home I see a shot that I'm going to miss

Patriotism combined with jingoism.

Mmmm, that's interesting, I find myself agreeing with you again Andy, this is becoming a bad habit :D

Anyway I rather feel Patriotism with jingoism comes under pride, at least interms of the above list.

I also think pride, if you accept the concept of sin, along with it's friends patriotism and jingoism, is miss-understood, people don't see the danger. That's why today, as in the past it is incredibly dangerous.

As a Scottish nationalist, I know one has to be very careful with such things.

Believing you know what's best for others and insisting on helping them by enforcing your views.

Of the seven offered? Sloth. Only it can never lead to something positive (except a nap, I guess), all the rest at least have some potential.

Nay, tis Pride that draws the others on. Though Idlenesse is the nurse of sin, or something like that. I'm a bit rusty on my Spenser....

Yep. See Dead Link Removed

Best,

I am a caucasion male, in excess of 21 years and as a US citizen...i am free.
I consider myself, modest and humble thpugh I am, to be highly expert and much experienced in sin. The problem is that amatuer that you are you do not even have a decent listing of up to date sin.

One of the greastest sins, ask Jorge..don't take my work for it..is excess nosiness.
