Which Nitrile Gloves to Buy?

I did a search at www.lowes.com, a home improvement center for those who do not know, looking for Nitrile gloves. The search returned 3 results:Wells Lamont Men's Nitrile Coated Knit Gloves,Wells Lamont Men's Disposable Nitrile Gloves (20 Pack),Wells Lamont Men's Nitrile Coated Gloves with Gauntlet Cuff.
Does anyone know which type is the best to use when working with B&W Chemistry? What about alternative provesses?

The coated Knit gloves are a heavyweight glove (nitrile over a fabric) and not at all needed for darkroom work, the regular are like latex surgical gloves, only nitrile, which is claimed to be more resistant to chemicals than latex, and also some people are allergic to latex. The gauntlet type have a bit of a sleeve that covers part of your forearm. For normal darkroom activity the regular gloves are fine. I use Kimberly Clark nitrile gloves because they are not talc coated, as the last thing I need is more dust in my darkroom. I bought a box of the Harbor Frieght gloves and they turned out to be talc coated. To use them up, I put them in the washroom, and after donning them, would wash the talc off like I was washing mt hands. PIA

I get my Nitrile gloves from the local auto parts store ( NAPA ) at about $13.00 a box of 100. I have also used the Wells Lamont Nitrile gloves. Wells Lamont is a somewhat better glove, in that one pair will last through a night of working with chemicals where as the NAPA gloves may not make it through the night.

They have dozens of versions to choose from. They sold me a box of 100 years ago and I still get their catalogs. And the gloves actually fit (which matters if you need tactile sense, like developing sheets in a tray) as opposed to the one-size-fits-all you normally find.

I bought the blue Nitrile Glove at my local drug store. $8.00 per 100. They are called Safe-Touch Nitrile Powder-Free Gloves and made by Dynarex Corp. in Orangeburg, NY.

I believe this is the glove I'm accustomed to at work. We need to use non-talc versions in a clean room setting.... From Best Gloves as mentioned before.

I dont think there is any need for nitrile unless you are working with staining developers or alt processes. Its good to know I can get them close to home though, as I'm about to start the latter. I just use latex for "ordinary" B&W.

The Kimbery-Clark gloves are very nice gloves, they are the purple gloves... they are thinker, and more sturdy than the lighter blue gloves that you see out there. The might be twice the price, but they are more than twice worth it.

I buy mine form fisher scientific do a google search.

I like medium, they fit my hand tight!

I bought a pair at the hardware store made by Stanley, the tool and hinge maker. They never said nitrile, but did say "chemical resistant" and I've had them for quite awhile.

I buy mine at the Walgreen's Drugs just down the street. They are a little more expensive than ordering, but I don't have to pay shippng.

We use mostly nitrile here at the lab and buy from either Fisher Scientific ( www.fishersci.com ) or VWR ( www.vwr.com ). The nitrile are usually more comfortable than latex as well as being better for those who tend to develop allergies. You shouldn't wear the same pair for longer than about an hour, though, because they will start to break down enough with sweat to allow some permeability. There are some which have aloe so your hands don't get as dried out. Each company has a slightly different idea of sizes, so you might need to get samples to figure out which fits the best.

Try the Home Depot in the garden/pesticide section. They have nitrile gloves in a lovely shade of green in a plastic pop-up container...about $5 for 24 gloves. They are lightly powdered, so I put them on and wash my hands to remove all powder on the exterior of the gloves...but they're cheap and they work well.
