Which Mamiya 645 45mm 2.8 lens?

I think "N" is the latest and the best one out there.... N version is 67mm where as all the rest is 77mm.

Doesn't matter I have full filter set for both Canon EOS L-glass ftw......their filter sizes FTL......I had to buy 67 and 77mm filters for all of my Canon glass when I upgraded, almost all of their pro lenses use that filter size. Image quality is what I want, doesn't have to be perfect wide open I'll be using it for landscapes anyway so I'll be stopping down, but if it's sharp at 2.8 I'll snatch it up.

There's a C lens locally im interested in.

The N lens is a re-design, and is worth the extra $ because the coatings are the most modern, the optical design is probably a bit better, and it is considerably smaller.

Sorry to disappoint, but there isn't any 45mm f/1.9 - I expect thebanana misread your post.

I've been shooting with the 45mm 2.8 C for about a year now and it has performed admirably in all lighting situations, even in off axis bright sun. If you see a C lens that's in good shape--buy it and start shooting! You won't regret it. This shot was taken wide open with TMax 400.

All I need is the 80 1.9 and the holy Mamiya trinity is complete, 45, 80 and 150 (28, 50 and 93mm 35mm equivalent)

I have the N and the C but honestly haven't don't a thorough testing of the two. I probably should now that I have the appropriate adapter and could do it on my NEX5, although that wouldn't be of much help in comparing the extreme edges. I've kept the C because it is a bit unique. It's marked "sample". 45/2.8C

You mentioned the holy trinity but personally I've been more intrigued by the 35/3.5 It gives a rather unique view. example shot at 35mm

The term holy trinity is a term thrown about on the d*****l Canon forums denoting the 28, 50 and 85 EOS mount lenses and their respective 1.8 / 1.4 / 1.8 apertures. That 35 does look nice but I want the 2.8 of the 45 especially now that I will be shooting some Techpan soon

I must say I'd be very interested in seeing a comparison of the old and new 45's as they are a significantly different design. Shooting them on a crop camera would probably not show much difference.

I have the 45 N and find it quite nice (on a 5d2, not film or M645) but all the Mamiya 645 lenses (except maybe the A lenses) seem to suffer a little from CA wide open.

I have 45/2.8 (can't remember which.. I've hardly used it. I think is's the 67mm one), 55/2.8, 2x 80/2.8's (1 C, 1 N... you get them with cameras!!!), a 80/1.9, 150/2.8 & 150/4.

My 'travel' kit comprises 55, 80/2.8 & 150/4 as they all use the same filter, and fit my bag (the 45 fits too but I don't carry that on holidays).

I generally only use the big guns (80/1.9 & 150/2.8) at home and in fact used them yesterday taking portraits of my sons.

I have the C model and I'm happy with it. I didn't try any other versions. Some of my favorite photos come from that lens. Can't go wrong with any medium format OEM Bronica, Mamiya, Pentax, Contax, etc lens.
