Want to Buy Vivitar Bellows Part

I need the threaded round disk (T thread) for the front of a Vivitar Universal Bellows. This is the threaded plate that a female T adapter (allowing use of a standard camera mount lens.)
The threaded round plate is held in place on the front of a Vivitar bellows with 2 locking chrome thumb screws.
I DON'T need or want the common male threaded adapter (to adapt a T mount lens to a camera). I have most of the other Vivitar bellows accessories (macro stand, focus rail etc.)
As it is, I have no way to mount a lens on the front of the be(llows.

I have several female T adapters, but not the threaded disk they screw into.
Would consider a "junker" bellows having the threaded front plate.

I am a bit confused as to what you actually need. A photo of where the missing part goes might help. I used to sell the Vivitar bellows system when they came out in the mid-70's, thought they were a very neat idea. You could use several brand lenses on your camera for macro work. I did purchase several of the lens mount rings and still use them with the camera body t-mount for close-up work. The lens mount rings are quite difficult to find, most people have no idea what they are used for since "t-mount" is an ancient system. Good luck, RB

I agree, it was a great system for those people having 2 or 3 different camera systems. I know Canon made a spring loaded adapter so that the bellows could make use of the Canon auto diaphragm. via a double release cable. I suspect other manufacturers also made a similar device.

I have several female T lens mounts and several more common male T mounts for the rear of the bellows.

I was writing from memory because my bellows is in a storage warehouse at the moment, but I see that there is only one satin chrome thumb screw on the front standard that locks the black painted disk onto the front standard--not two. Loosening the thumb screw allows the disk to be turned that the aperture scale on the lens can be seen easily. Without the disk there is just an opening with nothing to screw the lens adapter into. The disk resembles the lens disk on an old Omega D2 enlarger.

If you have the disk, I could also use a couple of the original satin chrome thumb screws, if you had them.

If I haven't clarified this, let me know and I'll dig my bellows out of my storage unit this weekend and photograph it.

I now understand what is missing and I dare say, that part is going to be quite difficult to find by itself. You may have to hunt the big auction site for months to find a trashed bellows. Making a replacement part is doable but could be much more expensive than just buying another complete bellows. Good luck with your search. RB

I have a complete Vivitar double rail bellows set up for Olympus with slide copier. I can't imagine selling a part from it. If I did I would be in the same boat you are in now.

According to "The Vivitar Guide", they made bellows adapters for several different lens mounts. Usually, devices with that type of universal system, like my Beseler Slide copier, have TWO thumb screws to keep the plate in place. The plate itself is round with different mounts or threads on it. The important thing is that the plate has a V-shaped GROOVE around the edge that the screws push into. I have a couple of these types of plates that might fit. Measure the diameter of the hole on the front of the bellows -- which should be the same size as the adapter plate -- and I'll let you know if I have something to fit.

Does the corresponding plate on the BACK of the bellows fit on the front? Does it have two screws and a V-groove in the plate?

I don't have one of these, but as a help, I think the black ring in this photo is the piece you are looking for. As you can see, the bellows comes with one (1) chrome thumb screw. Good luck with finding one!
