Yesterday I used an F and an F2. The F was more silent. I tried a Nikkormat FT2 and EL side by side, the EL is louder.

What do you think is the most silent of all Nikons?

Actions like this are why The Long Island Sound is so polluted, it is a not a dump.

My Nikkormat is pretty quiet, compared to my EOS 650 which is loud enough to shatter glass at 25 feet.

The quiet mode on the F4 is just ... slower automatic film advance, right? I haven't found the camera all that quiet...

Hmm, quick question...if part of the Atlantic falls between Connecticut and New York, does it make a sound?

It was a good thing for the monitor that I had just swallowed that coffee.

F4/F4S in 'silent' mode. The other cameras are great machines but big metal machines are never going to be mistaken for quiet.

I was thinking that too... S2 beautiful and would probably fit well next to the F.

I'm always amazed that the Nikon F kind of looks like a Contax...

They go almost hand in glove. I just recently purchased both cameras and I love the way the S2 feels and shoots infact I just added a 3.5cm/2,5 for it. As far as quiet, I think my Bessa R makes less shutter noise than the S2.
