Benjiboy is right. Talented photographers have been making fine photographs for 177 years, often with primitive equipment. Untalented photographers can at least make videos of themselves crushing their gear.

Ain't that the truth Jim, I always remember a quote I once read "no photographer is as good as the simplest equipment " Edward Steichen.

I, for one, would like to see this done to an Argus C3.

Why would you want to do this?
Anywhere from a quarter of a milliom to over 3 million views of each video. He is making money.

Oh, come on you people -- lighten up. Either of those cameras could be had at the local fleamarket for $20.

I have a friend who used to sell cameras in LA who said the Leica dealer would take the top shell of an R4 and put it on the floor and stand on it to prove how tough it was -- zinc, I think. In any event, that makes more sense than expecting anything other than amusement value out of this stunt.

That bledTec guy is in Utah -- hey, a UTAH product. His ads, for a while there, featured him blending a lot of odd stuff in the company's industrial-strength blender. Very funny.

still, this test is senseless and proves nothing.

:whistling:It's cheap entertainment for me...........

The guy who did it doesn't know how to use either one of them. He definitely one of those started out with a D*** camera and didn't know what to do with the film cameras.

I would be sad if I saw even a Zenit treated like that.

I'll wager my Nikonos III would CRUSH any Canon camera! After all, its waterproof to 160 feet, which is about 80 pounds per square foot. Take that, Canon. However, for taking pictures rather than bludgeoning folks, I'll stick to Pentax.

I wonder if similar videos are posted in the forums focused on hydraulic presses...

"I kept hitting my press with a Nikon F and the press broke after three hours. The other brand lasted five hours..."

The C3's bakelite body will bounce right back into shape, with only minor scuffs.

C3's aren't Bakelite, they're a machined solid chunk of metal, hence the nickname "the brick".

So now we've got a viable answer to all of last-year's now-obsolete models of digital cameras, so they don't take up quite as much landfill.

Most ridiculous thing I've ran across. I didn't even watch it.

All this brings to mind an old saying " comparisons are odious " .

th

At least they didn't ruin any good cameras.

Nikon and Canon are both crap against a hydraulic press, but they don't test lightbulbs by dropping them off skyscrapers.

or airliner windshields by shooting turkeys at them.
If they did that with a Minolta SRT its wouldn't crack under pressure.

Anyone recall the Timex commercials with John Cameron Swayze? I say we strap a camera to a boat and take it for a ride.
