which film for landscape?

Quite the reverse, I'd actually recommend starting with Tmax or Delta films if you want to. I much prefer Delta 400 to HP5, I shoot both as Delta 400 isn't available as LF, and I raelly like Delta 100.

I've used Tmax & now Delta films for so long I don't notice them being any fussier with exposure/processing, working with Transparency films is no different & many photographers began with them.

You have to use the films that suit you and your image making, not everyone likes the same chracteristics and so you will get quite different opinions.

Always interesting these discussions about film; like so many others, I started with PX/TX and then went to T-Max 100 to get finer grain. Everything in the 80's was about finer grain. However, I could never get T-Max to look good, no matter what I did. I would try a new dev., different times, more/less agitation. etc., etc.

I finally gave up on T-Max and went back to PX/TX and it was like getting a new set of eyes. Everything looked good again.

T-Max just isn't my film, but use what works for you.

Everything in the 80's was about finer grain.

Wow, Deja Vu all over again. Everything in the 00's is about more pixels and higher ISOs.

But just like those B&W films, there is something missing or not quite right in the new products.
