Good afternoon,

I need a new set of 11"14" developing trays. Is there a reputable online store other than Henry's in Toronto (-> very limited choice...) ? There does not seem to be anything for local pick up here in Nova Scotia; at least nothing that I am aware of.

Thanks in advance & best regards,

Markus

I think I saw some trays 11x14 at vistek.com the last time I was in their shop

You might try Kevin at KHB Photographix. I believe they carry trays.

Try a food service store or restaurant supply store. In the states we have Smart & Final where they sell to restaurants and the public. They have gray plastic busing tubs (like the ones that waiters/waitresses put dirty dishes in) that are perfect for 11x14 prints, twice as deep as photo trays and are sturdy. Oh yeah, they're also cheap...about $5 US.

Try your local Zellers/Kmart/Walmart. You can buy their cheap store brand of "tupperware" in almost any size you can think of and they are cheap. I have a big one for washing up to 16X20. It's about 8" deep and I think I paid about $10 CDN for it with a lid!

Another idea is if you have an Ikea nearby, they sell tubs that make excellent 16x20 trays. I've not looked for smaller sizes.

Nothing at Carson/Mosher in Halifax?
I always hit the hardware store before I hit the photo store. Got my film developing timer there and trays to develop 11 by 14 paper.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Carsand Mosher and Atlantic Photo Supply in Halifax have almost no darkroom equipment in stock (that is why I asked the question in this forum). I like the cat litter tray alternative and will look into this... Of course there is always ebay also but that requires some hunting (and time)...

Best,

Markus

I buy from them all the time. I've got a pile [literally] of those trays.

It's

http://stores.ebay.com/photococan

on Ebay. Some of the stuff is cheaper from the real store some on thier Ebay store. For those of us in Canada the shipping is great from the real store.

Nick,

Thank you for the info. I agree the shipping (within Canada) seems better from the real store - also often the case with jdphotochem - This sort of info is very helpful.

Cheers,
Clarence

Just want to point out they aren't the deepest. Fine for normal use but if you favour ultra diluted lith developers you might want to consider using a bigger size.
