I have heard about some regulations about syringes and needles. Due to IVdrug use they're not sold and it seems it's almost illegal to possess one unless you're diabetic.

I want a couple to measure out HC110.

And I want to get one cheap, there's some cool glass syringes on ebay, but they're going for 30 bucks with shipping. That's GASsy.

I want to get one either for free or less than 2-3 bucks

Are there any anti-HIV programs in Toronto that give them out?

Thoughts?

You can't get needless ones? I got some needless ones from Silverprint here in the UK but another source is local vets. They use needless syringes all the time for handfeeding animals and I have two that are graduated 1ml from when I've had to dose my hamsters with antibiotics.

I got some needless ones from my pharmacy once I had convinced them of why I wanted them. However, the size you need to measure effectively is too small to reach into a part filled bottle of syrup. So if you can get one, a long but narrow pipette is a much better option and won't make you look like a heroin addict when you ask for one.

Don't know about the availability in your parts of the world, but here in Croatia I use needless syringes which are used for measuring syrups, etc. for kids. Ask in a local pharmacy - they might have something similar. The ones I use are graduated to 5 ml. They came in the package with some anti-cough syrup or kids' antibiotics, can't remember which.

I got mine from the local pharmacy for a few dollars. It's plastic and easily cleaned.Came with a long nozzle. You might want to decant some of the HC-110 into smaller, easier to manage containers.

Im curious about why would someone use syrup instead of making a stock solution? Lifespan of the concentrate? I ask because Dil B with stock is 1:7 which is really convenient for measuring, IMHO. Not sure why anyone would mess with the syrup if they didn't have to.

HC 110 is not my main developer and I only use it occasionally. Hence the lifespan of the concentrate is one argument in favour of using a syringe for me. But more importantly: I find that using a syringe is fast, exact and makes temperature control easy.

As soon as you put water in it, it starts to oxidise. Maybe very slowly but never the less is does. The syrup just seems to last with out oxidising.

I use it 1+49 so for every 500ml of working strength I need 10ml of syrup. It doesn't get any easier to measure than that.

And if you mix stock then you have another bottle taking up space which just isn't necessary.
The only thing with mixing direct from syrup is that you need to be very precise as you are using small quamtities which is why people are using measuring syringes which once you have one, takes care of being accurate and the syrup all gets pushed out of a syringe whereas it sticks to side of graduates.

Others have suggested the pharmacy - I've seen them for sale, and my pharmacist gave me one that was intended for dispensing children's medications.

Another option: you can buy kits designed to make it possible to refill ink cartridges for ink-jet printers that include syringes. These have needles, but they aren't sharp - just long, hollow wires. A computer supply store should have them. In our area, there is a twice-yearly sale of computers parts/supplies/gadgets - a real geek's paradise. I bought a refill kit there.

I went to my local pharmacy and asked for one. They gave it to me for free.

Excellent idea. I use a 10cc syringe and it fits in the HC110 bottle fine. I attached a short length of neoprene tubing to the end to reach into the bottom of the larger bottle of HC110. When you draw up the goo into the syringe, measure by where the plunger is in the syringe, since there will be an air bubble in the syringe due to the air in the neoprene tubing. When you squirt the goo into the water, draw up some of the water into the syringe a few times to flush out the goo in the syringe. I then go to the sink, and with very warm water flush out the syringe. I have been doing this for many years without a problem.

ps. I do the same thing with Rodinal.

I get mine at the pharmacy, the one for childrens meds. I use HC110 one shot. I don't bother with a working solution.

You can buy them at any feed store if you live in a rural area. Otherwise the best I have used are the ones made for dispensing childrens' meds. Any drug store has them. They have a very cool rubber stopper gizmo that goes over the end of the bottle.

As other have said, you can acquire syringes at pharmacies and stores selling pharmaceutical products. Even Wal-mart has syringes. However, I found that the best syringes can be bought at a science store. I have a couple, with interchangeable heads, that are great to work with. You can also purchase stoppers with holes on the top, which are useful for extracting your HC-110 syrup.

My late wife was an RPh. In the US, it varies from state to state. In Ohio, they are available for the asking. I've never bought one, so I don't know prices.

1oz syrup to 31 oz water for B dilution is even more convenient. I don't use a syringe, I use a 30 ml graduate. I use a 5 ml syringe for small amounts of whatever. I have a 30 ml syringe but find for that much it's just as easy to use a graduate.

The pharmacist sells children's syringes up to 10 ml in size, the Formulary sells syringes in 1 ml to 60 ml in size, and many pet stores and Veterenarians sell pet syringes in a variety of sizes. All of these are usable with HC 110 or any solution that is viscous.

I'm sure it's been said but you need a 'canula?' tip? or catheter tip, or a _huge_ gauge needle (like 10-12) to pull up hc-110 goop. I use a nylon hose for aquariums.

You can't get kid medicine dispensers? It's a syringe with blunt plastic tip (and rubber plug too) that fits into cough syrup bottles (and rodinal bottles too..) and lets you draw out the correct dosage so you don't overmedicate (or undermedicate heheh) your children.
Cheap. You can get regular plastic disposable syringes on ebay, from sciplus.com, etc. No restrictions, just once you put a needle on there..
Sorry if all of this has been said before..

Most syringes set up for a needle have Luer connetions on the end. This connection mates with 1/4" OD, 1/8" ID plastic tubing. The Formulary gives you a short piece of tubing with every syringe and I find this very very handy.

You can also use 4mm OD, 3mm ID tubing. They are roughly identical. Both of these are common for aquarium use.

Bingo! I have those! My bro refills the printers in our house and there's at least a dozen of them.

Thanks
