Hi all, I have an MS Optical Hexar AF 335/2 conversion lens, after much testing and sending it back it seems that it is decentered.

Where can I send it? Yye has already said he couldn't repair it. If possible I'd like it fixed, I paid good money to get it done and now stuck with a lens that isn't always great and therefore unreliable... sad.

Thanks, enjoy the day.

I don't fully understand. Are you saying that you paid to have the optics repaired and the repairer isn't standing behind his work?

No, the lens was converted to an M mount lens form a Konica Hexar AF. When i received the converted lens back it's focus was way off, nothing in focus, well actually front focusing by a lot. So I sent it back, the basic focus was fixed but the blurriness on the edges was not, since we didn't know if that was a symptom of the general out of focus issue.Turns out it wasn't. So, it's not the repairer. I don't want to send it back to Japan - again.

You paid for a properly remounted lens. If the remounter won't stand behind his work, you're probably stuck.

Remounts of the type you bought can be done by a competent photographer's machinist. There's nothing magic about S. Miyazaki. You're not that far from Woonsocket. The Dau brothers at SKGrimes are fine photorapher's machinists. Ask them what they can do for you.

Thank you so very much for that information. As I had mentioned I already returned it to Miyazaki, the overall lack.of focus was fixed but the blurriness and distortion wasn't. I will contact the folks you referenced. I had high expectations for this lens... Again thanks

Maybe they can also get it to stop.at infinity and put a nib or something on the aperture ring. A bit of an ergonimoc disaster

Need more information to know what is going on. What it is? Can you show a picture? Is this an autofocus lens? Were the lens groups disassembled for the 'conversion.'

Hi, this is the lens in question. The groups were not disassembled for the conversion and since it came off of the Hexar AF is is from an autofocus camera. I believe they just take the grouped optics and put them in an M mount adding focus and aperture. It's not very ergonomic, does not stop at infinity and has no aperture numbers. The aperture ring also has no tab and is tiny so I put a little plastic nub on the aperture ring. There is another guy who did a blog on his, he's on this forum as well, but it seems he uses his mainly on a Sony A7 so resolving power would be different. I was chatting with someone on the Konica Hexar AF group on FB and he said "Hexar lens have deliberately undercorrected spherical abberation - this is reportedly to make bokeh nicer - and this could be a symptom" , this is then corrected in the camera's firmware. So, it could be this is the way it is. It seems to resolve better wider open, and doesn't do as well stopped down. The first three are before I sent it back, the two that are landscapes are the ones with problems, the one of the supermarket seem fine, it was shot wider open. The 4th one is after I got it back and is probably f11 or f16. The others are better, they are wider open and closer, it does fine with close things. I've come to the conclusion that this is what it is and I need to to learn to shoot it where it's best suited. Thanks for the help!

Your images look similar to what I got when I re-assembled my Floating-Element 28/F2 Distagon with the front floating group one thread off in the front helicoid. So, maybe a lens group spacing issue.
