So, I won a nice looking Ilex 8 1/2" f/4.8 Series S Caltarlens off Ebay. I've read that it has a nice look to its images, and oodles of movements for 4x5. I seem to have gotten a decent price, and it looks to be in very good shape. The only problem is that it does not have a retaining ring. Any idea where I could find one without having to contract SK Grimes, or buy another shutter?

I'd start with Jim at Midwest. SK is just to much $$$$. Unless of course you need a gold plated ring turned by the elves in the black forest.

Midwest usually has new Ilex #3 and #5 flanges in stock (www.mpex.com).

I was in the same boat as you and found someone on ebay that sells just rings. I emailed him and he seemed really knowledgable, and set me up with the appropriate size. I wish I could remember his name, but it may be worth your time to look him up.
