I just picked up a pistol trigger grip and need to get a cable that is male at both ends. It is an old Miranada grip. Any ideas on where to find one? I checked B&H, Adorama, and KEH but didn't see one in their online catalogs. What is one of these called anyway? So I know what to search or look for.

Thanks.
D.

Difficult would be my guess. It's going to have to be a Miranda cable. I've got a Nikon grip & have both the electric & mechanical cables but they were acquired over a period of years.
There wasn't a standard thread for these things. Camera shows or flea market would be my best guess.

Hi Derek - don't know if this will help or not.

I got a double cable release when I picked up an auto-bellows. I am thinking you could go that route if necessary. Maybe a bit more pricey but an option if you get a good deal on one. I love using mine, it syncs the diaphragm up with the shutter. Maybe E-Bay might have one included in a pkg or something. Just a thought...:smile:

Derek;

A double ended cable release is not what you want.
Sorry but I don't know what the proper term is but I have a few of them.

One end is the standard tapered camera type the other end fits into the Pistol Grip.
The PG end has a dia. of 7mm. The overall length is approx.12 " with a2" angle at each end.
The pin at the PG end is 20mm long. Looks and feels German, not Japanese.

Email for more information or a picture.

He's not looking for a doule cable release.
He wants one end for his pistol grip and one cable release end.

I looked at an old catalog of the german brand Prontor. Their double-cable release looks like one cable is adjustable at the grip end. Might be that this cable can be taken off and has even got another male end-piece.
