About three days into a month of travel.
Realization two in an unpleasant series we all cope with.
Not only are the photo chemical equipped stores gone away at home but.....

Where are the remaining retail stores with B&W chemistry on the road?

The urge to slosh some 4 x 5 Ilford in the motel bathroom hit with all the vengeance of a really good snack attack.
Oh No! No real photo stores appear to be within half a state or more of Rapid City.

At home I know to order on line, Forgot about the open road. Like the wife's car vs mine
Reach for the dimmer and the wipers go "Dumb Guy Dumb Guy" before my face.

Any opportunities in Portland OR or Sacramento CA I can patronize on my way past?

In Portland OR I believe there are a few places. It would be worth checking out one of them which is Blue Moon Camera and Machine. There website is here: http://www.bluemooncamera.com

If you know where you are going have it sent USPS general delivery to the post office of that city/town.

if you are going from Rapid City to Portland you must be going by the Formulary. You can probably find most of what you need.

In Portland, go to pro photo supply. They have a good stash of B/W chemistry and a good selection of film. Citizens photo is another favorite of mine, but the selection is somewhat less.
If you are driving by I-90, I-5 via Seattle, then a stop in Glazers is a must. It's considered a toll on a road for analog photographers in the PNW. I have to warn you, the toll amount might get big. It always does for me.

Eugene.

If you're going through Denver, Denver Pro Photo has everything.

You mention Sacramento. If you are going further west and find yourself in the Bay Area, first off, welcome! Second, there are any number of stores in the area that have B&W chemistry. My personal favorite is a small shop in the Lower Haight called Glass Key Photo. Reviews (including mine) can be found here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/glass-key-photo-san-francisco.

Will miss the Bay Area. (Darn it a touch too early for the Americas Cup) Portland and Sacramento are directly thru spots on short travel days between the family visit stops.

Tanks for all the help.
I will score some vital juices.
