Where is the best place to send my Nikon FE for complete overhaul and repair?

look and search for authorized Nikon repair shops in your area. they are in all major cities.
have you ever heard of this before, what is causing this, can it be repaired to function as new and where is the best repairman to send it to?

No. The only one that I found was Deans and he wanted $300. I believe he could have done it but I thought I would wait and watch marketplace for a nice original owner. I shipped it out there and he looked at it ( i paid 30 or 50 bucks plus shipping) and I declined. I also sent him my FM which I had him overhaul and it appears to be perfect now although I haven't tried it yet. He also advised that the clicks cannot be removed on the FM shutter.
