Drew retired at the end of the year and has since not been participating on APUG. Not sure if he is fishing. Maybe he doesn't have a computer at home.

I'm sure he's off carrying 75 pounds of gear over 14,000 foot mountain passes on 100 mile 2-day treks starting fires with flint and steel and fending off marauding bears with his bare hands while subsisting on bread crumbs and wild forbs.

Yes, but the colour of those bears will be precisely correct!

A lot of interesting people are gone from APUG. Maybe a thread to talk about them.... or not.

I recollect that he mentioned having a lot of remodel work to do right after retiring; that would certainly consume one's spare time for anything else.

Does anyone else think its funny that Drew had all the time in the world to write so much on this and other boards when he was employed-- and now that he is on his own time he is too busy? As a small business owner I just had to observe...

That said, I hope he is having a wonderful time and has lots more time to spend making pictures. I am looking forward to that as well in a few years.

Some people retire, never to be heard from again. I can think of two. Calamity Jane, and Darr.. but I can't remember if they were members over here or at LFF...

Family and I had an impromptu visit to our prior place of residence in Ridgecrest, CA. I was tempted to look him up, but we were pressed for time and he was AWOL. A lot of the areas I had explored out there overlapped the areas he had photographed.

You forgot about all the famous people he encountered along the way.

he might have bought the national fotocolor color separation camera from the
photo store down the road from where he lived? worked? that he mentioned a while back
now that he is retired he could be restoring the camera to bring on high altitude climbs
to make color separation negatives for dye transfer work. a big camera like that is nothing
compared to what he normally brought on his back... and from what i remember he
did DT or knows someone who does them, or he had a hoard of matrix film &c for just the right occasion...
maybe ... not.
