Strangely enough Ian, when I go into my local Jessops in Northampton I am usually advised to try Kuznetsky Most in Moscow. I blame the difficulties my Scottish accent gives them:D

pentaxuser

One benfit of buying from Kuznetsky Most would be they shouldn't be charging the Russian equivalent of VAT on exports :D

I wonder if they have a website. Joking apart buying from outside the UK can save very significant amounts on film even when you pay Import Duty & VAT - which often don't get added.

For Adox sheet and 120 film I use Silverprint way down south in Waterloo. For cheap Foma I use Fomafoto in Norway, very reasonable and reliable, though I do worry that David Cameron may single me out for avoiding tax...

yes but...as he said, that is not especially obvious. It would be much more helpful generally if all members would simply fill in their location field of the profile.

I quite agree BradS. Obviously "AJUK" comes from Upper Kurdistan. Or maybe Upper Kazakhstan. Or possibly the Urdu Kush. Or most likely Ulysses, Kansas...

I was just wondering where you all get your stocks from these days.

Mainly online from a bunch of different european online stores (I buy bulk rolls only, or if I find dirt cheap something I want I buy a bunch of rolls for the freezer).

For special occasions should I need 3200 iso b&w or color film above 200 iso (I have about 30-40 rolls of this in the freezer, Schlecker Fotoland aka. Fuji Superia 200), then I go to the local photography store in town.

These days I normally buy from Poundland, RK Photographic, Discount Films Direct and Ebay for the Chinese films.

I considered using Fomafoto, but I'm worried woth their delivery costs as they are exponential to the weight and also to the addition of Import duties and VAT.
What is your experience of buying from them?
Thanks!

I've had no problems buying from Fomafoto and so far no additional costs. The shipping seemed reasonable but then all postage etc is getting expensive.

Freestyle. I just ordered some Fuji green sensitive X-ray film on eBay. $27 for 100 sheets of 8x10.

I've purchased one bulk roll of Fomapan 400 Action in order to test how it worked out to France. Apart from that it took 3 weeks (as estimated by Fomafoto), I had no customs/vat etc. Apparently the first shipping weight limit is 1kg and @1kg I think the price was about 12 EUR, which imho is quite reasonable. Next limit I dont know, but the next alternative, above 1kg, was about 30-32 eur.

Next purchase, if 3 bulk rolls can be squeezed in under 1kg (which they should), the shipping per roll should be quite ok.
