But what's your source of information?

brian, you know PE is like the donnie brosco of rochester
if he tells you who his sources are, you're latté will probably be
laced with some hallucinogenic substance so you think you dreamed it
your tea will be made wtih morning glory seeds, so you wake up with
a massive headache and find yourself in a sewer pipe in mexico wearing
sean penn's tshirt from the movie "the game" ...
and if he is found out for devulging such important information ...
he will ingest whatever it is they make squeelers ingest
maybe sour patch kids ?

I'm sure the delay is in getting past the new enviromental regulations, esp for the kit chemicals.

i hope they get the film wrapper thing figured out and the frame numbers figured out
before they release another film with the same film numbers and paper ...

I want them to solve it for B&W and C41. In E6 I only really shoot for projection and, at least until and unless I get a MF projector, that means 35mm anyway.

Why companies have websites, if they communicate via twitter?

People love twitter. I think you can get more buzz leaking the info and watching it spread around news sites than just via website announcement. Or someone just blurted it out by accident.

If APug was more hoi poli showbiz media frenzy then it would have been sent to news sites with "kodak insider lets slip release schedule on APug"

What delay? They announced at the beginning of this year that they wanted to have the film out near the end of the year. Sounds like early 2018 would be near the end of the year, tho on the other side of it. Kodak knows the environmental issues I'm sure. It just takes a long time to bring out a new film stock.

First things first. Lets get the film and deal with that later. One thing at a time.

That Twitter image is interesting because it came from Eastman Kodak, not Kodak Alaris.

I will be very surprised if we ever see ektachrome in 120 and 35mm still camera again. As far as movie stock is concerned I can accurately simulate ektachrome using LUT's.

If memory serves, in the other thread some time ago somebody mentioned the last quarterly report by Kodak, which is a stock-exchange listed firm.
I went and read it and, again going by memory, the quarterly report said the launch of Ektachrome is expected in 2018, not at the end of 2017, although there was a reference to some pre-production, or alpha program etc. that might happen during 2017.
Basically they are working on it.
I don't remember specific reference to what kind of formats they would produce initially.

It's late now and I'm going to sleep, but I think it's easy to find the quarterly report on the internet, or on the Kodak website.

What is that transparency film shown in post #63? It doesn't have sprocket holes, so it's neither ciné film nor 135 format. The wide narrow frames make no sense.

Must be the successor to APS format.

This is a valid source. The 2018 comment is probably correct.

35mm movie film in E6?

My assumption is that the same film will be sold for both motion picture (Kodak) and StillCamera (alaris) end use. the last Movie ektachrome 7285 was acknowledged to be similar to the then current still film. perhaps with more lubricant on the back layer.

As indicated by the 7 in the type number 7285 was mainly a 16mm and Super8 product. there was a small amount of 5285 (35mm Movie perforations ) made but I would guess that it might have been diverted for stills. (if I shot a lot of slides I would have been tempted)

Announced formats were Super8, and 35mm slide. Super 8 would be of interest to film school users. who can only do their direct to the projector projects in B&W at the moment.

I would think that when they are testing emulsions, they wouldn't bother with sprocket holes (or edge printing). Those steps are done after just about everything else.
And I would guess that the wide narrow frames have something to do with testing equipment, not camera exposure.

As stated in the other thread, I read that report and found no mention at all of a release date or a delay.
It only states that Kodak had announced plans to reformulate Ektachrome and release it both as cine and still filmd.
Could it be more vague?

You are right. I just read the last quarterly report and found no mention. I think I read that stuff in some other press release.
The quarterly report, though, says a significant thing.
At page 26 (emphasis mine):

Consumer Products:
• Includes licensing of Kodak brands to third parties and consumer products. Kodak currently licenses its brand for use with a range of consumer products
including batteries, cameras and camera accessories, printers and recordable media. Kodak intends to continue efforts to grow its portfolio of consumer
product licenses to generate both ongoing royalty streams and upfront payments.
• Consumer Inkjet Solutions, which involves the sale of ink to an existing installed base of consumer inkjet printers.
Kodak developed consumer products, including the Super 8 camera.

In a separate document, Form 8-K, Kodak writes:
The division recently entered into multiyear supply agreements with three major Hollywood studios for motion picture film

At the moment I have no idea where I have read that information about slide film, so it might all be a memory mistake of mine.

As discussed elsewhere that motion picture film agreement is about camera film.
The print- (release-) film market has nearly gone. Kodak's only competitor on colour, Agfa, recently even cancelled their print film.
