When do you process?

When do you do your processing?

That depends on various aspects & needs & circumstances (...) but to make a long story short, as a general rule: Tank early in the morning. Printing at night.

When do you do your processing?
- early morning?
- in the evening after work?
- late at night?
- on the weekend?
- when on vacation?
- during mid-day?

Usually once I have about 4 rolls ready to go.
With my multi reel tank (2), that gives me 2 rounds to process.

A fair amount of new images with not too heavy of a workload. I like doing it on Thursday, gets me ancy for the weekend, I glance at negatives throughout Friday, and dedicate Sat/Sun morning to a cup of joe and some scans

Film developing might be any time, evening after work is pretty typical. Printing is usually an all-day event for me and that means weekends.

Four day weekend coming up. I may shoot Friday/Saturday and print the rest of the weekend. Oh nuts. My wife saw this and has different plans (flower garden, mow lawn, repair roof...maybe I should go to work and rest up

As I usually use the bathroom for film developing, my wife was pleasantly surprised to learn she can still use the toilet if she wishes...during the processing. I think that clinched her support in my endeavours.

I may be processing a roll of Tri-X tonight, test roll from a "new to me" camera.

I process negatives in late evenings - I hang them to dry in the bathroom, once everybody has been put to bed. And I file them in the morning, before the family starts messing in the bathroom again.

I feel this gives me a slight edge in my never ending fight with dirt on negatives.

Well B&W I do whenever I shoot a roll usually within 48 hours, I have some exposed colour about 16 rolls now that I have started to load into tanks to develop in the next week now that the temperature as warmed up, first on the list are two rolls of 120 from my Autumn colour shooting I intend to make up a litre of developer and get it all the rolls done in 5 days or less.....Expect a disaster.

I wish I had a light sealed dedicated darkroom to do that in the day because I like to chill out in the evenings and I depend on the sun going down for my darkroom work...........If it was only warm in the winter.

I use to do 2 to 3 developing/printing sessions a week, from 9pm to 7am. Then I got old...can't do all-nighters like that anymore! Plus I no longer have access to the darkroom I have been using for 30+ years.

I load up my expert drums at night and either process the film that night (in the winter) or the next day (summers). But slowly working on a darkroom so I will not be night-time dependent like I am when working in my bathroom and kitchen..

I usually process at night because I have always done it that way so it has become a habit. I usually load tanks watching tv. For printing I also do it at night. I don't know why, but I have a hard time going in the darkroom during the day. I rarely print during the summer for that reason. I like to spend at least three/four hours printing when I do it. In the summer that puts me late into the night. Winters are great for printing.

Always mornings. Usually I start my photo work by 8:30 AM and keep working till I feel burned out. If I have a lot of darkroom work to do I get up earlier.
