Not a problem. Speaking of FM2n bodies... A black one followed me home. Slightly older than what I've been looking for, but I find that the F2AS-style meter readout is preferable to the FE2's match-needle setup, especially in dark situations. I'll still keep my eyes peeled for a chrome body in the 7464-7466 serial range, but will let this 7349xxx serial body be the daily FM2n.

Bought a "non-functional" Minolta XD11 for parts. It took me about 5 minutes to diagnose the problem with it and 15 minutes to have it functioning. I'll still have to clean it, calibrate and recover it. Not bad for $10 but now I need to find another parts camera.

Yes!!! They made the Maxxum 7. Search the net for reviews on this (there are many).

I love all the external controls and the degree of control. Amazing camera. The rear LCD even displays the operator's manual.

Here's mine:

Don't let that 35-70 fool you: I'll match its sharpness with any of my Zeiss or Leitz primes. I've looked at its results under a Leica MZ6 binocular microscope at over 20x and its images are tack sharp.

KEH, perchance? I've bought "parts" cameras from them before that happen to be better than the ones I planned to fix using the parts from the new arrivals. Same with Roberts Camera.

A nice solid lump to replace my defunct F60.

It might be heavy and getting on a bit (like me) and have a noisy AF, but it's built to last and feels right.

The N8008 isn't that bad weight-wise. Yeah, it's heavier than an FM2n, but nothing compared to an F4s or F4E. If you can, get some lithium AA batteries. Makes the camera not much heavier than it is without batteries. Autofocus should seem a bit more responsive, too.

Not new old cameras but they feel new. I was able to acquire 2 Leitz SOREI soft spring loaded shutter releases which I put on a Leica IIIC and a IIIF. These place the shutter release level with the top of the wind knob, allowing the finger to rest on the wind knob so that the ball of the finger can rest comfortably on the shutter release. A totally different feeling when using the camera. So, while not a new old, the SOREI makes these screw mount cameras feel new. The SOREI was originally made by Leitz,NY in the 1940s. My question is why Leitz never made these standard with delivery of their sm cameras?

Things took unexpected turns, and I ended up with a lot of stuff for rather little money.

- Pentacon Six TL
- waist-level finder
- metering prism
- macro bellows
- CZJ Biometar 80/2,8
- CZJ Biometar 120/2,8
- CZJ Flektogon 50/4
- Zodiak-8 30/3,5
- Mir-3B 65/3,5

Everything seems to work and be in rather nice condition. Even the 1/1000 shutter speed is rather accurate.

Envy! Envy! Even if the Six is trash you have most of the best lenses ever made in Eastern Europe for Medium Format, just the Sonnar 180mm is missing.

Tom's Ikon Nettar 518/16.. It's better than I expected. I'm amazed at the quality of German craftsmanship from that era - even for a point & shoot camera of that age, they are well made.

Also bought an FM2n and Nikkor 28mm f/2.8 (CRC version), which I'll get my hands on in about 2-3 weeks.

Bought a chrome Nikomat FTn for $20 shipped. Was being sold as a used camera by Roberts. Should've been sold as a parts camera. At least, I have a bunch of parts including a chrome Nikomat nameplate now. This also means that the black FTn is off the market. I'll just send it in with the black FT2 to be recalibrated and to have the meter worked on so it becomes completely smooth. FT2 needs the same (albeit seems to be better off), a refoam, and to have the J screen from the chrome FTn swapped into it.

The good news is that the black Nikomat FT works well. Probably needs to have the shottkey diode installed for use with modern power sources, but, that's to be expected.

I would definitely dig owning that FM2.
Would be my first black Nikon.
But, Good Heavens, the price of those are as Much/More than a Photomic F2.?

Got it for $117, plus tax. Was being sold for $129.50. The shop has another one that has the aluminum shutter. If you'd like, I can check it out and see how it functions.

Hey...Thanks for the offer. I have "enough" 35mm.....would just be nice to have that fast, flash sync of the FM2.
Would be nice to have one just because.
I have the FM, and other than the shutter lever needing to be at half-cock to operate, it is a great unit.
