Just received an EOS 650 from a gentleman on this forum. This looks like it will be a fun and capable camera, and a nice addition to an A2 I was given about a year ago. Maybe one for B & W and one for color? I'd be interested in your experiences with the EOS 650.
I picked up a 1973 Canon F1 in new condition off eBay last month.

Canon F-1 from 1972 with a broken light meter. That thing is a TANK!

Yes i had the EOS 650 and i found it a perfect camera except for one big defect, which was: There was no way to configure the camera so you an AF with one button and then shoot with another. The shutter button also operated the AF, and the only AF point is central, so focusing on an off-central part using AF is very cumbersome.

PS: It is TOUGH; my EOS 650 fell from waist level to the floor and was unscathed, working perfectly afterwards.
Picked up a Minolta maxxum 7000 and kit lens (35-70 macro).
Leica M2 just before Christmas. It was a pretty much Ex+ / almost mint original condition one until somebody did the old 'scratch it with a Leicameter' and its screws all over the top plate thing at some point in recent years. Terrible thing to do to a Leica of this vintage but this actually worked in my favour as without the top plate scars, it would have been too much money.
Also, and I know this sounds stupid but when a camera is truly mint, it makes me feel that I have to handle it with kid gloves on lest I be the first heathen to scratch it up after so many have diligently cared for it before me. Had a black M6 Wetzlar boxed set a couple of years back from a collector in Japan and that was brand new essentially. I just couldn't completely relax when out and about with it. Now I have my M2 in a nice half case and with the top already scratched, I'm actually really just using the thing for what it was meant to do, take pictures!
Enjoy!!
And I know how you feel about mint cameras. I have a near-mint black Nikon FTn with three lenses in their cases. I believe the previous owner never used it at all. I never dared to use it - so now I'm thinking of selling the set to someone to put it in a nice display or so. I want to use my cameras and this one is too beautiful to use .... and I recently got me a nice Nikon F from the same age: a good user.
There is a marketing opportunity here! New cameras with a pre-worn look!
You open that smooth lovely Leica box (as I have) and there, nestled in the felt, is not a deep black unblemished jewel, but rather a new camera simulating a well worn black and brass body with a few small dents at the edges: exactly what you'd expect a no-nonsense photojournalist would own. No need to put this baby behind a glass cabinet - attach your lens, load some film, and hit the streets! #justmakephotos By the way, don't forget to mail the warranty card.
i has Nikkormat FT2!
