Nice set-up. My favorite outfit is my Contax iia with the Voigtlander SC Skopar 21mm f4 plus the Zeiss Opton 50mm f2 Sonnar. I find I use the 21mm the most.

Currently all of my film stuff is Pentax. Getting a Nikon FM2 might be opening Pandora’s Box of Nikon stuff. Not sure my wallet could survive.

Received a net mint Plaubel Makina 67 from a Japanese dealer a couple weeks ago. Shot 3 rolls of Provia, which were processed by my favorite lab. Results were excellent except where I screwed up. Controls are logically placed but just different enough that I need more practice to operate intuitively rather than mindfully. Bought yellow and ND filters and generic rubber lens shade. Now have Makina loaded with Delta 400 and ready to shoot in NW NJ winter.
I am partial to well designed folders, 35mm and 120. The Makina design assures that lens remains parallel to film plane. Only Zeiss folders and Retina come close in this regard.

This week I received a Kodak Retina No. 126, dated 1937. (based on the serial number) It has the "Kodak Anastigmat-EKTAR" f3.5 lens made by Schneider: in fact all of the "Anastigmat Ektar" lenses on the Retinas are Schneider Xenar's that Kodak insisted be rebranded as a Kodak product. I spent 2 days stripping it down to its components, cleaned and serviced the shutter and film transport, etc., and it works almost like new. Beautifully engineered cameras, these early Retinas.

I sent my Konica Ft-1 to Greg Weber for repair. Very happy with the repair. Camera works great. Repair cost more than what I paid for the camera, but I think it's worth it. I plan on using it for many years. He is old school. I sent it in. Didn't hear from him by email or phone call. Camera just showed up 2 weeks later.

About 6 weeks ago I was showing a wood/brass camera to someone in my local real ale bar. Another customer said he had a couple of his fathers old cameras I could have as he was going to throw them out. One larger than the other.

A couple of weeks later he gave me a 620 Kodak Junior, the leather(ette) is lifting a bit but overall it's in excellent condition and a film at no 3, This is a British made Kodak Ltd camera.

Tonight he gave me the larger camera a No 3 Kodak Pocket Folding camera, US Eastman Kodak manufacture so pre WWI, it's a quarter plate size roll film negative, so I think 118 roll film. It needs a little work to the leather and the pneumatic remote release mechanism has come off at some stage, the two parts were inside the film spool area, just needs 2 screws, the shutter works like new.

The donor won't take any money for them if I buy him a drink, in lieu he insists on buying one back Photo's to follow.

a pheonix P1 slr with k mount 50mm lens.used once by a woman i met months ago along with a keystone k8 movie vamera her father owned. not sure how old it is but the spring drive still works , it needs a good cleaning and lube , aperature and lens are clean and seem to be working.it will be a shelf queen for now.the pheonix is all manual and is basically brand new.i also got a 50mm 3.5 nikkor lens with helicoid that works just fine for my bronica s2a.pictures to follow

Last month I scored a Rolleiflex f/3.5f. Should have my first roll of pictures back sometime this week; can't wait to see them.

Strange enough at Apug we practically never discussed those japanese Phoenix cameras. The same goes for the chinese Phenix SLRs.


(I never came across any of those two, even with a Phenix model once being offered under a german brand.)

A friend and I walked into a thrift/junk store and he found a Nikon FA with a 50mm f1.4 and a MF-16 data back for $28.

He already had a FA, so he took the lens and gave me the body and back.

After a bit of cleaning and new batteries in the body and back, it fired up perfectly.

Looks like Jon will get another order for a foam seal kit!

AGX-the pheonix camera p1 camera i got is basically a brand new camera with a 50mm 1.9 i believe.the lady bought it to learn about photography at a college class she took about 10-12 years ago.went to a couple of classes a roll of film went thru it and she gave up.packed it away in the closet without the batteries in it.i spoke with her about 3 months ago when she told me about it.well skip ahead she called me up asking if i wanted it.of course i want it.
now the camera is nothing fancy , all plastic all manual camera except for the meter that uses 3 led lights , green and red - and + for correct exposure.nice lightweight and very easy to use.smooth advance and quiet to shoot.so for the price of a cup of coffee i have it now and will use it, she also gave me the keystone k8 movie camera her father had.that still works also but it has seen better days .so i will clean and lube it and maybe even explore the possibility of using it.who knows.
every once in a while you do run into a gift and i think this was the time.

Somewhere in my boxes for repair parts sleeps a Braun branded SLR (SR2000 ? with Pentax K-bayonet) - this should be a Phenix. Never used it though.
