The addition of the Minolta Multi Function Back and motor drive really makes the X-700 my most modern old camera.

Very cool. It kinda looks like a prop from Bladerunner. It's the camera Harrison Ford would have used, I'm sure.

These backs and drives go for next to nothing on eBay, but I like my X-700 a bit compact. And I do like cranking the film too

That's because Rick Reckard (Harrison Ford) uses the right tool for the job!

If I wanted compact then I would use my Pentax MX or ME Super. If you like cranking the film then might I suggest the XE-7 as that film advance is something to experience even amongst the other Minoltas (and other brands) that I have. But if I needed the intervalometer feature available with the Minolta Multifunction back, then the X-700 with it will be the choice.

For having won the European camera of the year in 1981, the X-700 sells for very little these days, along with the backs and motor drives. No doubt there are many choices in battery dependent autoexposure capable SLRs but I don't believe there are many that have the the multifunction back's feature set.

Pretty excited! Just received Contax G2 and G1 bodies and 28mm & 45mm lens. Both look great and appear to function normally. First rolls thru tomorrow, and then we'll know.

It's a pretty cool feeling to load film into a camera again.

Posted a couple of my finds on this thread, a Nikon FA and a well-used but working FE.:whistling:

Took delivery yesterday of a good-looking Nikon N8008s with AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 non-D from Goodwill in Johnstown, PA. It came with 7 shots taken on a 24-shot roll of ISO 800 Kodak Gold, a good set of batteries, body cap and rear lens cap. I was primarily after the the fast 50, to go on my N90s. Finished the roll of Gold 800 this afternoon, found the N8008s as nice to use as my N90s, but I don't think I'll keep it.

An F4s with a mirror that's locked up. Mainly bought it for the finder, which I noticed was a late model DP-20 with all its eyepiece threads intact. If it's easily resurrected, I'll probably pass it on complete, with my current finder on it to whoever wants it. Otherwise, I'll hack it up for parts and offer the stuff I don't need to anyone who needs parts.

Got a beautiful Minolta X-700 with a 35-70 Minolta zoom lens. I really enjoy that camera. Also a nice Canon EOS Rebel-Xs with a 35-105 zoom. Very nice as well. Got the Rebel more for the lens that I also need for an EOS IX that I recently purchased, but I think it's a keeper.

Picked up a very nice Pentax K2 in excellent working condition for $25! I've had all of the compact Pentax SLRs and the KX, but this is my first K2. I think I might like it!

A little Balda Baldina, that required some TLC. a good clean, a replacement torque spring in the frame locking mechanism, a replacement screw for the lens door locking mechanism and an RF adjustment.

Dead Link Removed

Results from the first roll look great

Somewhat belated on this post: I am now the proud owner of a reeeeeaaaaalllly nice F3P. The camera was actually acquired in a trade and Federal Reserve Note exchange with one John L (he, the always generous dispenser of advice/sharing of knowledge of matters Nikon) a short time ago. Since the acquisition, the camera has been paired with an (approximate age-appropriate) MD4 (s/n 294xxx) and an MK1 that was taken off another F3HP/MD4 set. Net result: a nice new looking F3P/MD4/MK1 set in my 35mm SLR arsenal and a not-so-pretty F3HP/MD4 (s/n162xxx) up for sale to the first $100 USD.

Nikonos V from Tri Tran via the APUG classifieds. In Hawai'i a beach camera is a real necessity, and these fantastic cameras have really come down in price to "beach camera" levels. I've downloaded the manual and looked at various guides to checking the seals and such, and I'm really looking forward to getting out there in the water with it.

Put in new batteries--meter checks.

Cleaned and greased O-rings and channels, submerged in fresh water--check.

We have a beach camera!

First post here. Latest acquisition is quite un-exciting however I am learning to enjoy it. Olympus Infinity/AF-1 rescued from an antique store for $3. Battery still worked. Changed out some of the corroded light seals and works like a charm. Ready to run the first roll through some tetenal and feed through the Kodak pakon.
