What's your latest new old camera? (Part 1)

I just picked up a pair of OM-10s with manaul adapters. Both came with the usual 50mm F1.8, but the seller also included a 135mm F3.5, a 28mm F2.8, teleconverter, and the Oly 65-200mm F4. My main film camera is an OM40 and I've been wanting a second OM body; so I've been looking for a good OM-2SP or OM-4. Now I think that can wait, there's really nothing wrong with the OM-10 and a manual adapter.

I have a Vivatar Series 1 70-210mm F3.5, and I expected the Oly zoom to be similar in size. Nope, it is (comparatively) tiny. The built in hood on the zoom and the 135 are nice touches.

I'm very happy with my $40 spent

I'm building up a very small Nikon camera collection right now (my philosophy is to have one camera of each brand along with a decent 50mm lens) and have recently acquired an FA and an old FM. The latter being in good condition - considering the age - only the viewfinder is quite dirty, but what the heck!
The FA is working fine so far, after I had lots of trouble with its two predecessors which both failed me.

No no. Not going down that path again John haha! I'm not looking to rebuild my Nikon kit as my 1V gets the most use. But since This was more or less given to me I'm going to use it. I have no intention to add more lenses or anything, just a 50mm and lots of black and white film will be suitable enough for me.

Since I last posted in this thread, I expanded my Beseler Topcon family to include the three levels of product which they sold during the mid-60's.

As a young teen, the Beseler Auto 100 was what I had available to shoot with, at $159. Desire was strong for the almost affordable Beseler Topcon D-1 (just out of reach for our middle class family at $269), but it was outright lust for the unattainable Beseler Topcon Super D ($420 with f/1.4), the world's first SLR with TTL metering on the mass market (as the Topcon RE Super). In today's dollars, the Super D was $5300 (using the price of gas as the comparative number). It took me 47 years to finally own all three!

And my son-in-law provided me with this Fotron for my recent birthday

And from the same fellow who sold me all his OM gear, a Samyang 18mm - 28mm F4. I've never used anything wider than 28mm before. Looking through that at 18mm, I feel like I should be doing real-estate shots ("Look at how spacious this phone booth is!").

This is one of my favorite camera + lens systems for B&W photography. The two best spontaneous portraits
of my two daughters are made with it.

Got all those but the last two. And my fav? One not on the list: Summicron DR. Love my Summarit 1.5 though! I got a really really early version, at least according to DAG who did a CLA on it for me a few years back.

Rich, I'm looking forward to seeing what this Summarit does. Test roll from the Summitar is getting souped tomorrow, and then will shoot a direct A/B test for them all once the Summarit shows up.

Really have to get my SLR gear trimmed down now.

That will be a fun comparison. I never tried directly comparing my Summarit and Summitar. My Summitar I got really cheap due to some edge separation but it still makes really nice photos. Such fun with all these 50's, eh?

My college just received a large donation of old camera equipment, including quite a few 35mm SLRs. I was asked to look through it all and come up with a value for the donor's tax records. Going through the cameras, I found mostly Nikkormats, one thoroughly trashed Nikon F, a couple FMs, and basically the lenses you would expect to see (nothing exotic, mostly 50mm).

And in the bottom of the last box: a 64xxxxx Nikon F with the original (square eyepiece) eye-level prism and a 5cm f/2 Nikkor-S (!) lens, possibly the original lens that came with the camera. It's a little brassy, and in need of a good cleaning, but it seems fully functional. Pretty much made my day.

My latest purchase was a Nikon FE with and a Nikkor Ai 50/1.4 lens. Needs a clean but for 2000 yen (about 20 USD) I'm not complaining!

Retina IIIs

I've been looking for one of these at a reasonable price ever since I started shooting with a Retina S, about 15 years ago. I bought one at a show but the shutter died very soon afterwardsit had been slow and erratic when I picked it up and finally stopped working and I put it away. Its f1.9 Xenon kept pushing me to find another body, though, and today, in my local consignment shop, I found one sitting in a plastic bag among various late 70's slr's and bits of junk more for decoration than picture taking. It is in very nice condition, has the 2.8 Xenar, a working meter and just the bottom of the leather case. The shutter snaps clean and, to my ear, pretty close to accurate all the way to 1 sec. Inside was a half-finished roll of Kodachrome 64 and I paid the princely sum of $32.94 for the whole shebang.

Now out to try it, original lens and the 1.9.

I hjave bought two cameras from Ebay this week.

1) Taron Eyemax rangefinder(No, I never heard of them either).
2)_ Voigtlander Perkeo medium format folder.

The Perkeo is sold as defective but I have a good record of cleaning and lubricating old cameras and having them work fine so I am optimistic.

I know it is not "old" but I got a good deal on a Canon EOS 1N. Seems to focus faster than my EOS 3 but it could be just me not noticing before. For me it is great as the battery pack works on both which works well for my large hands. Also the speed doesn't matter much as I use manual (M-42) lenses to a large extent.
