How much are you burning on shipping or gas to do these trades? Plus all that time needed to set them up. Isn't it more effective to just buy it straight out?

Someone contacted me from school who bought 120 when they meant to buy 35mm, I had some paper I didn't want that they needed so we met on the way to my friends, I was going anyway.

But for trading a pro-pack or another, $3 shipping isn't that much and what else am I going to do with it, I don't shoot Tri-X, but I didn't want the paper either, and figured it would be easier to trade the film and ship it than the paper.

Ah that makes more sense. Might as well shoot it, tmax is more expensive so people may not want a trade with out extra cash. Trix in 120 is also quite beautiful, and less of a huge difference than the two would have in 35mm.

Check your prices.... TMY-2 is CHEAPER than 400TX so it's a good deal for the other person...

Man that is weird. Tmax was always more expensive. Oh well good luck with the trade.

Last week I bought:

15 rolls of 400H
15 rolls of TMAX 400
20 rolls of Acros 100
10 rolls of Delta 400
5 rolls of Delta 3200

All 120 size.

Restocked a bit today after my Kyoto trip depleted supplies. At the store I picked up the following, all 120 size.

20 rolls Acros 100
5 rolls of 160NS
10 rolls of HP5+

5 rolls of 135 Fuji Professional 400X at an exorbitant price to add to my freezer stock while it's still available in my local pro dealers because it's discontinued and they have stopped manufacturing it there will be no more.

Some 127 films of the ReraPan and Bluefire Murano flavors

2 boxes 8x10 Velvia50
2 boxes 8x10 Acros100

Kind of a Christmas gift but I technically bought it even if part of the money was a gift

Multigrade FB Classic Gloss Variable Contrast Paper 12"x16"/50
Seagull VC-FB DW 11"x14"/50 Glossy Paper

5 rolls of HP5+, and before that, well, 5 rolls of HP5+ :whistling:
With paper it has been a while, but I recall getting a 100-pack of pearly Ilford MG IV RC 13x18. Have to buy more soon, I guess..

A brick of Kentmere 400, all dated to Aug 2019.

A five pack of 35mm HP5+. There isn't any more space in the film freezer, so I'm just going to have to use them.

Another three rolls of 135 Fuji Provia 400 X at the same exorbitant price while I can still get my hands on it.

I remember ringing everyone I could think of to track down the last few rolls of APX 400 in 120 format! My sympathies:wink:

Where can you buy a 5 pack of any Ilford film??

Does it even matter? It's 5 rolls of film, who cares if it's grouped together or not? It's really not any cheaper to buy 5 in a pro pack these days than 5 separate.

That is why when I hear that a film I like is being discontinued I rush around Los Angeles buying up all that film I can find to keep it from the hoarders. I hide the film from the hoarders in my freezer.

It is my mission in life to keep film from the hoarders!

For a moderate sum of money, a ten-pack of 35mm Orwo NP20, expired in 1989 and allegedly stored throughout in a loft at ambient temperature.
These old GDR films seem to age surprisingly well. Exposed at box speed and developed in undiluted Microphen, similar rolls with the same emulsion number have yielded excellent negatives with no discernible fogging, so I'm hopeful.
Season's greetings to you all,
Michael

Bought a handful of Kentmere 100, and some 50 and 25 speed B&W stuff to try too (don't remember what it was).

Also obtained about 14 lbs of mixed 5x7 paper off eBay for like $35...most of it is an unknown matte FB paper which makes absolutely gorgeous prints. I just don't know what it is  The box also included various Kodak and Ilford paper. All good stuff. Kind of a risky buy but it paid off.

Should last me a while.

Here's a detail of a print on the unknown paper. Great warm tone and contrast I think.
