What's your everyday carry camera?

For me it's the Pentax 67. People think it's HUGE, but the size gets to be normal after a while. I'm also 6'-1", so perhaps my hands just don't mind. I also don't use a strap or hand grip. Unless I'm doing something serious with it, I handhold it too. A little shutter/mirror/blah blah bounce under 500th? Pffft! I hand hold it down to a 15th when I'm shooting for fun. There's usually a stump or parking meter nearby if I need an impromptu tripod. Almost never leave home without it. If I'm sizing down, then it's my Mamiya 645 1000s with 80 f/1.9. If it's digital, then I'm normally doing something boring, so who cares.

I think I may have finally found the camera that I can call an "everyday camera". I picked up a German made Franka Rolfix folder. It's small, does both 6x9 and 6x6, uses 120 film, has a working self-timer, and is light weight. Can't beat that with a stick.

I have two 'everyday carries'.
A digital Olympus E-3 with telephotos for when I want fast shots and/or can't get close to the subject.
A Hapo 66-e (recently replacing my Zenobia folder) folding rangefinder.

Now days, most of my shots are done with the Hapo 66-e mostly because my eye is always looking for subjects that would render well in black and white film.

I think for most people today and definitely most, if not all, professionals, it is the shot that counts. The final product.
And that makes perfect sense.
For me (and possibly most APUG's) it is about the process....the journey.
After spending the time to set up the shot and measure the light and set up the camera, then developing the negatives and finally printing or saving to your desktop or Flicker account, the ultimate pride and satisfaction in a job well done is all fun. And if the film doesn't come out as you wanted, either a total disaster or just blase', it was still fun.

So far I have packed my Olympus OM-4 and Mamiya C-220, still not as convenient and sweet as my Mamiya 6, they feel like boat anchors around my neck. Geez, I miss that camera, it fit in the cargo pocket of my shorts and the Sekonic L-398a meter was small and unobtrusive, overall a joy to carry everywhere. The uncoated Zuiko optics were razor sharp, contrasty as hell, and allowed for glowing hilightes.

It seems to change every now and then but I've been shooting with a bessa r and a collapsable 50mm 3.5 or a 28mm 2.8 and a zeiss super ikonta iv paired with a Polaris 5 spot meter a lot.

Have you had problems with the collapsible lens hitting the front shutter on the Bessa? I've read that it can be an issue. Been using a Jupiter 8 or Canon 50/1.8 on mine and keeping the Summitar and Elmar on my M-3. I'd rather use the Elmar on the Bessa.

On the bessa I have the serenar 50mm 3.5 fits perfectly and goes all the way in. I have another canon 50mm f2 collapsable that does hit the inner baffle but doesn't touch the shutter. I'm not sure about the elmar but such a small lens should be able to collapse in. I went with the canon because of the aperture ring, screw on filter thread, and harder lens coating. It's a little bit more $$ but is not as common to find. You do need to remove the infinity lock as the bessa r body depression on the front is too shallow to allow unlocking. Really easy to do, it's just one screw and spring. Very sharp lens that doesn't flare. I'm quite happy with it and choose it over my other 50mms including the serenar 50mm 1.8 rigid in silver barrel.

Casual rotation of 35mm or MF, plus a digital rig. Nikon FE or F3, Yashica-mat or Bronica ETRSi, Fuji X100s or Canon SL1+thepancake twins. Manfrotto Pixi tripod in the bag, compact & full size tripods in the car.

The easiest one to just pick up and shoot is my Pentax 645N, and it has a roll of Portra in it right now, so maybe I should be out finishing it off...

What I really want is a Mamiya 6. That is my dream daily-shooter.

For smaller formats, I always have a Kodak Advantix Preview in my bag, plus whatever Pentax K-body I'm testing.

Mine is exactly that same camera and lens !

If I'm not actively sure that I'll be taking photos, I will still carry a Minox 35mm, though I'm not at the moment trusting any of the three which I have, as two are developing the shutter reliability problems common in these models.

If just a family occasion, or I need ephemeral "notebook" record shots for my work, I'll use a pocket digital, or, if absolutely all else fails, I always carry a smartphone for work.

Although I have been going through a period of shooting with 35mm (I keep finding "bargains" that I cannot resist) my pocketable, carry anywhere, MF camera of choice is an uncoupled rangefinder equipped Balda Baldix 6x6. I also have a slightly less practical Franka Solida II but the Baldix allows me to wind on to the next frame without having to look for frame numbers through the red window. This makes it more user friendly than the Solida. Unfortunately, my hit rate with this camera has so far been low due to technical mess-ups that are entirely my own fault! My work bag currently contains a Yashica T5 that I am testing, so that is with me most days. However, my 35mm camera of choice at the moment would be a Pentax SLR with a 50mm prime lens, probably an MX or a Super A.

This time of the year when I carry a jacket my Nikon 110 zoom point and shoot, I also carry a MF camera in my SUV, as my Kowa needs repair it has been a Ansco 6X9 folder.

From silly to sublime

Always a Minox 8x11 in my pocket；mostly a Leica sm，Contax 2a or Contax T3. The always and mostlys just in case，for deliberate photog a MF camera. I should include a sometimes mostly that is somewhat povketsble：Nikon F with simple prism.

It's more of a grab and go kit - a Minolta X-700 with a grid screen, 35/1.9 Vivitar, 50/3.5 MC Rokkor QF macro, 100/2.5 MC Rokkor-X and sometimes a Minolta 320X flash.
