Multi Format
I was processing 2 rolls of Arista EDU Ultra 400 ASA this weekend. One roll was 35mm and the other roll was 120 in Xtol. The 35mm roll didn't have a cyan stain while my 120 roll did. Why the difference? Since I replenish my Xtol and reuse the developer, it has a bluish tint to it now. It was a newer batch of film and I noticed that it isn't as curly. That's a good thing. Do both formats have he same emulsion?

The 120 has a blue base. I have not printed it in the darkroom, so I don't know how it affects printing on VC paper (it might cause higher contrast!), but it scans nicely.

This is a common question. The Arista.EDU Ultra 120-format films have a blue tint in the film base. It cannot be removed by washing, but it shouldn't affect printing or scanning. The blue tint in your developer may be from anti-halation dyes leached out of the 120-format film during development.

Glad to hear

Glad to hear that it won't effect printing and scanning. I'm starting that the polyester base is blue. It's beautiful film. Glad the curl is gone too.

Hmmm, not sure about the cyan, but thanks for mentioning about the curl - - I just might try this film out now.

You might like it. Under $3.50 per roll, it won't break the bank.
