Hi Calamity,
Wouldn't that look great with the leatherette removed & the wood refinished?
Perhaps when you get it you'll be able to make out the mfr. name or perhaps city of origin as a something to work from.

Looks exactly like my conley plate 4x5. Conley was the brand Sears used when they rebadged cameras. Similar cameras were made under ansco, gundlach, rochester optical, korona, etc. I have allways been impressed with my Conley. It has a rotating back, and front rise. The metal struts are attached to the bed with a sliding mechanism, which in effect gives you rear tilt. The wood finish and leather are absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately the bellows are shot, so Ive never been able to use it.

Anybody got a red bellows?

I do not know what camera it is. Why not call it your Wild Bill special ?

Looks an awful lot like a premo #3 4 x 5 camera, I have a couple of them, nice lite, really quite easy to use, not a lot of movements, but works great for landscape type photography.

Could be a good collectors piece as well, the prices on these have really been rising as of late.

Shaggy: I'll see what the wood looks like under the leatherette. If the wood is nice and if it's hard enough to take some knocking-around, I might stain and varnish it.

Claire: Darned good idear! Think maybe I'll do that! ;-)

Dave: That 4x5 SatinSnow glass I bought from you recently might end up in THIS camera instead of my monorail

Got my fingers crossed that the lens is useable.....

Thanks all, for the possibilities. When I have it in front of me I'll see if I can decypher the nameplate.
