Hello Everybody
I'm selling my Hasselblad 500 c/m with planar 80mm t lens, and two a12 backs here on apug. Everything has just been cla'd and is in exellent condition. I've put the price for 1300 dollars. Is this a fair price?
Please give me your thoughts.
Best Regards
Mads

Mads, it seems to me that many forums recommend checking the prices at KEH, so I just did that. Assuming that your description of excellent matches their one, it seems you are in the right ballpark but with an extra back thrown in!

Mads,

It is in the ball park, depending on condition.

YMMV

I would say yes, if you have the original box, papers, dark slide(s), numbers match. And CLA docs.

Well I dont have the box. The lens is a c lens. I'm getting the camera back from the official hasselblad repairshop in denmark tomorrow. Both the backs have had their light seals changed, one has gotten a new dark slide. The lens has been recalibrated. And the body has been checked. It doesn't have a high mat d screen, but it's still quite bright (I think it's an in between screen from the old ones and the high mat). And the waist level finder is the older type where you have to fold it yourself. The condition is exellent.
I'm going to post pictures of it tomorrow when I get my camera back.

well Actually I'm not sure whether the lens is a c or a cf. It's the black t coated version that came after the chrome ones. Still with the ev connected shutter speed/aperture.

if it helps at all i got my hasselblad 500cm kit for 1500CAD, it came with 2 backs, 50, 80 150 lenses a WLF and 90 degree prism, hoods for all lenses. everything was in perfect condition, but it kinda smells. i think 1300US is a little high, but again, it depends on the quality. if it's "near new", then it's worth it for sure, but if you've used it for 15 years i would recommend you drop the price a little bit.

that being said the market has a way of regulating itself on ebay. if the item is in high demand the price is usually regulated pretty well and the kit will usually be the same price all around (give or take about 50$ for your kit). when i was checking out used hasselblad 500cm's on ebay about 4 months ago they all seemed to go for about $1000 used. i guess you'll see if anyone bids or not. there's lots of ebay strategies that can work for and against you. with a price like that many people may just ignore your item for something with a "no reserve, starting at $0.01", but end up buying it for $1250 just because it attracted their attention initially. you may want to consider that option plus many more strategies. selling on ebay is an acquired technique that requires risk, skill and knowledge of ebay. do some research on it and follow the trends before you put it up for sale there. you might do better on a local newspaper or website as there are still many people who avoid ebay and would consider $1300 a steal.

hope this helps...jordan.

Thanks for your helpful input Jordan!
Well Actually maybe I should put it in another way. I dont mind so much if I sell my hasselblad kit for less. As long as I have enough to by a mamiya c330 f with a couple of lenses and a rolleiflec mx-evs or similar. If I could get that for 1000 dollars, then I dont mind at all (the rolleiflex being less important, I really want a complete mamiya kit with 4 or 5 lenses and a paramender). I bought this camera a couple of months ago in a wonderful danish camera shop for actually a little more than the 1300 dollars, but then it comes with a years warranty and a 60 days return policy. Well the sixty days are long due, and they dont have what I want in the first place, so returning it is not an option. I guess the camera is at least twenty years old, but it's been very well looked after.

There's a guy on Flickr that bought his entire C setup (5 backs, 80mm T* and 50mm chrome) some frm KEH some from eBay all for less than $600. This was just about 2 months ago.

That would be because
  1. He brought a 500 C, not a C/M, CX, or CW
  2. He brought Chrome lenses for which replacement parts for the shutter are nonexistant or almost nonexistant. As long as the lenses do not need repair he is ok. In the meantime he can save up for CF lenses.

Like I have always told people when asking pricing for parts for their Jaguar. If you have to ask, you probably can't afford them.

I'd price it via KEH. I got a CX, new waistlevel, banged up 1970s a12 back and 80mm C lens for $700. I think the prices are good right now, it's just particular lenses and accessories that are 'pricey' on the used market. The 80mm C and 150 Sonnar are pretty affordable.
