A Sun 24-40mm f3.5 macro zoom for $10 in perfect shape. Another one of those "too good to pass up" moments. It's a heavy piece of glass, multi-coated, and the macro is great. It has a Y-S mount, which appears to be slightly askew (unlike this photo), but otherwise it works fine. With the Y-S mount not properly aligned, the lens tab will throw-off the camera's meter. Maybe that why someone "got rid of it". Not the first time I've gotten a great deal on gear because someone didn't know "how to turn the damn thing ON".

The availability of nice examples of certain things is getting tight. So different than 10 or even 5 years ago.

An Isco-Gottingen Edixa Westromat 50 mm f/ 1.9 Lens. M42 mount. Basically for free. It came in a bundle of other stuff. I'll see what shape it's in when it arrives. I'll test it on my Sony, Maxxum, and Minolta cameras.

Just the one It served me well for 30 years. Shutter is unrepairable, according to repair techie. It only works in T mode. I'll replace it, but I think I'll wait until I'm over in Japan...

Well, it was digital...but too good, to pass on. A 15-85 USM APS-C for my old Canon 40D some weeks ago... mint condition with lens hood. Always wanted that, but not willing to shell out some 600-700 EUR for that lens, back into 2009. For my D7000, i have the 16-85 VR....yes it's strange, i do know.

Well, you'd love it! I've had the F3 HP, and sold it only, because of the heavy size & weight, it's a brick. I figured out, i do use my smaller, black XD7 way much more, into contrast. So the F3 had to go...sadly, many moons ago. On the Nikon side, here are still the F90x, F80 & F100 AF 35mm SLR brothers alive & kickin'.

I picked up an assortment of instruction manuals from a local online auction before Christmas that had like new manuals for the Pacemaker Speed Graphic and some older (1920s) Ansco cameras. Going through them I found a like new 6x9 B&W positive for aligning an enlarger. Great find making the purchase well worth the bid.

A 15-85 USM

The Canon IS? I've used that one for a decade or so, and still do regulalry. I used L glass before, and never regretted the move to smaller and lighter optics, and the lens has never failed me in any way. Great piece of kit.

Yes. I figured out, my 40D (10 MP) is still enough (i rarely crop, 95% never, seriously) and that 15-85 IS USM is not much behind my 24-70/F4L USM in terms of IQ, with the 5D II. No joke, but due to filesize, ordinary use the 5D II into Sraw1 mode, which gives me 10 MP also, hence onto 36x24mm Sensor. That APS-C 15-85 t's a good lens still, 24-136mm in 35mm terms. I like my D700, but OTOH, with the 28-70/2.8 ED here, it's a heavy combo...and either way my D7k or 40D setup is both lighter. Not a bad deal for 150 bucks & JJC lens hood, as the Canon original with velvet inside is expensive. (EW-78E)

In terms of 35mm film, picked up a slightly disfunctional RTS II, my friend Gandalf said "Thou should not pass that RTS II !" so i hope to get it fixed, being serviced. I have a RTS II since decades, but you know...it's good to have another copy, when it's working, hopefully into 2024.

Yeah, it's a relatively light lens and I also found image quality to be more than acceptable. I've printed up to 20x30" and the limitation was camera resolution (7D), not the optics.
The lens does some pretty funny things in terms of distortion at the wide angle end, but this is virtually all corrected by the 7D itself. I don't know if the 40D is capable of the same trick.

Not really, but with Canon .CR2 files, i always use DPP, and pass it to PS then, also after lens corrections. With Nikon .NEF, i use NX Studio to-do the same thing, was Capture NX(2) long before.

I recently (2nd time around) got my hands on a 250 exposure back for my Nikon F2. Talk about a brick, the camera and lens, bulk film back, with the 2 cassettes and x ft of film, MD-2 motor drive, battery pack with 10 AA cells. I loaded up 150 exposures, I was setting focus by guesstimate because I couldn't hold the camera and focus at the same time
I'm definitely going nuts

Hrhr...way cool ! I've always like 3-4 SLRs and 2 rangefinders locked & loaded with film...but shooting little film over the year...because there are few good compositons out here, my surroundings are boring, i think, during the past 12 here, i've had most of them...into this city here.

Rolleinars 1 in Bay III are expensive so I ordered one from KEH in UG condition. Let’s see how lucky I am.

Hats off to KEH again. Rolleinar arrived and the top and bottom pieces are in mint condition no marks at all no haze scratches separation. Mounting the top piece the camera focused fine. Of course I’ll need to shoot a roll. Can’t figure out why it’s UG rating.

Their ratings have historically been rather conservative. Their UG, as I recall, says "shows cosmetic wear but fully functional" but for something as old as a Rolleinar they might well tend even further to under-rating.
