A brick of Provia 100F 135
2 just expired Velvia 100 135

Considering the incoming price hike, I thought about buying some E6 before it gets way too expensive. This might actually be my last E6 acquisition. I've got a small stash that should last me few years, after that, it will probably be waaaay too expensive for me.

I might do the same quickly. I've been able to source several rolls of E100 type 135 locally for a good price. Now I need to persuade myself to grab a few boxes of Provia in 4x5"...

My next photographic purchase may be another fridge for all this damn film I've been purchasing (I'm not hoarding, nope!) over the past few years!

3 rolls of Cinestill SXX-120, a couple Toyo Omega lensboards, and I went in on the Cinestill 400Dynamic 4x5 crowdfunding.

You're saying you already have a film fridge and need another?

Well, ordered it a couple weeks ago, but the USPS brought an adapter to load Instax Square into a Kodak Instant camera.

Now I just need one of the cameras that works, ideally one that takes the faster of the two original film choices (only 1/3 stop slower than Instax), has a focusing lens, and metal gears in the roller drive (not sure such exists -- focusing seems to have gone with the EK-4 and EK-6).

Rebuilding the Canon F-1N setup that I had in the early '80's... Just need a few specific New FD lenses. A 50/1.2, a better 28/2 and a 100/2. Photo courtesy of Earljam. Thanks Earl!!!

I've got a decent-sized fridge in my darkroom (same size and model as my kitchen fridge) and I absolutely have to make do with that - my darkroom is only 5-jo in size, and that includes 3 tables (one for the enlarger and two for developing trays). Luckily the films I shoot the most I buy fresh fairly regularly, so can keep the discontinued stock in the fridge and the really good stuff (like infrared film) in the freezer.

5-jo was exactly the size of my darkroom in Japan...and I had to truck in buckets of water from the bathroom, which was right across the hall....but the BIG question is... what infrared film do you keep in your freezer??

It's mostly Efke aura, some Konica, some Rollei infrared, and a few rolls of Aerochrome. Maybe one of HIE left but I'm pretty sure it's hopelessly fogged now, as most of my HIE over the past few years has come out black (not clear) after development - the images are salvagable but only with bleach and toners to get rid of the grey cast. I also have 3 boxes of 4x5 Acros in Fuji Quickloads, which I bought when they were discontinued, thinking it would encourage me to shoot my Crown Graphic more often, but they're still there.

Here's an image of the last time I took inventory of my film stock (exactly 2 years ago) - most of the infrared film is at the far right of the image.

Do you put all your new film you buy right in the fridge?

I just bought some and they are in the shipping box still... haha.

It goes in the freezer, unless it's a film that I'm out of. Some or all, go in the fridge. When the Rollei gets here, it'll go in the freezer, as I've got a brick in the fridge...along with the Tri-X I just got (haven't shot Tri-X since the 90's!), HP5, FP4, Pan-F, TMY... :wondering:

That's a pity your HIE is coming out fogged. My box from 1967 does have fog, but it still can produce images. Go figure! I see you have some New-55. I had a few boxes. I only shot a few sheets. That was about five or six years ago. Sadly, the pods hardened in the ones I didn't use, including an unopened box. I was pretty disappointed, as I was planning to compare them in that Type-55 video I made a few months ago. The Polaroid Type-55 was completely fine and it had expired in 2008. I removed the film from the New-55, and will shoot it eventually. Have you recently shot any of your New-55?

I just picked up a(nother) Nikon F-801s in good condition from an auction site for very little money. I still have some Nikon AF glass that needed a new body. It's a camera I had from new back in the day and I still think it's my favourite generation of AF Nikon. I would think differently if I took photos of things that moved, however

I learned (too late) that HC-110 works really well at reducing base fog, so switching to that helped my HIE negs go from black to kind of a grey base - which would look normal for most films, but fresh HIE has a very clear base so any type of fogging is quite noticeable. I thought perhaps I could move over to the Rollei films (retro and superpan) since they can be shot normally and with infrared filters, but they are just too contrasty for me - I have not found a way to tame contrast of the film, other than shooting it in overcast conditions (which is not great for infrared). So I'm not sure what I'll do about that - I love infrared but I don't like the look of digital infrared, so it may be something I just have to give up. As for the New-55, I've never shot any of it, and initially bought some more to support the enterprise (and future films) more than anything else. I suppose now it's more of a historical artifact.

In the meantime, I'm looking at finally buying a panoramic head for my Rolleiflex, I think I'd like to try shooting with it when I go to the Arctic this summer.

Here's an image from some of the last rolls of HIE I shot back in 2019. The ones on the right (black) were developed in D-76, the ones on the left were developed in HC-110.
