A wide-angle lens hood needs to be carefully designed, too long and it vignettes the image, too short and it doesn't do much good as a lens hood. And the difference between too long and too short is not much. Lenses like the Distagon 40mm or the Schneider 40mm for Rollei are not that common, so a non-original hood is not available.

And that is where the 3D-printed copy of the generic hood makes sense (beside the cover feature). From the pictures it is very close to the generic hood.

The price is "Special", next to the cover. Generic lens hoods (it never had a cover) sell for 150 to 250€ on ebay, the printed version with cover is 40€, without it 20€. It was a quite simple decision.
Wow, that is the generic price, eh.?
Incredible. :wondering:

I was in San Francisco, a few years ago, at The Harvey Milk photo center.
They had some "guest speakers"...... this one gal had assisted for some pretty big names. Avedon and Leibovitz (if memory serves) to name a few.
I had JUST asked a question on APUG about hoods. Why they (can) cost what they do ... the price between Hood Leica and Hood XYZ for the same lens, etc etc etc.
This lady told me she had gotten pretty good at using black construction paper to custom make hoods on location.
It is comforting to know that even a "Famous-Successful" photographer thumbs their nose at the asinine price for a stupid piece of plastic.

That's where a bellows hood comes into play--many hoods in one. Also, using cinefoil and gaffer's tape in a pinch--if you don't bump into it. Better yet, an assistant with a black card.

Just received a Chamonix 45-F2. This is an amazing little jewel. After starting with a monorail, Arca Swiss Model B, this is absolutely tiny.... and will actually fit in my bag with 4 lenses on lens boards + film holders in roughly 10 pounds. Do I love that? Bingo! I've seen folks write the cameras were almost too beautiful to use. They are. BUT they are sized to make you want to take them with you. Can't wait to put some acreage of film in this machine!!! Fun starts this weekend.

Project LF is part of a rethink of photography as a whole, the where, how, why and with what I'm shooting. Allow more complexity and time here in LF where it plays a key role, and try to keep it simpler, easier and faster elsewhere... seems like it might make for a good pairing. And if that's how it rolls in the real world, we'll be unbundling and shedding gear elsewhere.

A Minolta srt 101 outfit, 2 cameras with 55 mm lenses , a Minolta 35mm,200 minolta primes, a vivitar series 1 70 to 210. vivaiter 283 flash and filters and bits and bobs from a local recyle shop, all in execelentcondotion, indeed the 70 to 210 is like new, and the cameras obviously well loved and looked after, and all in a metel fitted case

And the trunks are rated down to 50 m depths, wanted to make sure I don't get caught with my pants down when shooting fish down there.

As a result of my father handing over all of his collected cameras and lenses from his television days in the 60s 70s and 80s last Christmas, I treated myself to E6 Chemistry, super 8 film in both colour and B&W, double 8 film in B&W as I have nothing in the fridge, some 16mm Ektachrome because I will have the E6 chems, a box of old screw on filters, and several Weincell PCX625 batteries.

Two FD lenses from https://kamerastore.com/ HQ - I was shooting at the streets nearby and went there just to say hello to the guys, walked out with two FD lenses for total of 20 euros - hand picked & recommended by one of their gurus from the outlet boxes.

Beautiful black Pentax ME Super. Will use it as a conversation-starter/prop at brewpubs where I'm shooting digitally (sometimes already with Pentax K lenses).

Hmmm, let's see....
300 negative pages (135 and 120)
Optech loop ends
Rollei Retro 80s (3 100' rolls)
A meter repair for my F2 (DP-1)

I think those are the latest.

A leather stitching kit, direct from China. Yes, this is photo related -- I've got a Daiichi Zenobia 6x4.5 folder that has no strap lugs on the camera, and the stitching has failed in the leather case that's the only means of carrying the camera around. Got one or two other old leather cased cameras as well, and others might find their way here at some point -- this tool set will let me repair them, as long as the leather is in good condition and it's only the thread that's gone.
