Last weekend, I picked up an amazingly preserved, fully functional H8 Bolex Double 8mm cine camera for a pittance. In the past, I had aspirations to be a Cinematographer and have owned, used and sold many 16mm and 35mm motion picture cameras, but got out of the trade when I went into the motion picture lab professionally. It's a great sentimental purchase; one I hope to use sometime. Now for a Lomo tank!

That's beautiful - congratulations!

They even provided some fresh Kodachrome film; I'm looking forward to seeing the results.

Thanks! The old time machine is on the blink right now, but I'm working on that too!

Nice news on the Voigtlander Prominent!
Even nicer is that the lenses turned out to be in great shape aside from some dirt on the glass.

I was so happy with the purchase I celebrated by buying a newly CLA’d Minolta SRT-102 from John Titterington on Ebay!

I took a flyer on a thrift store purchase - a Pentax Spotmeter V that is missing its battery cap.
I'm hoping that I can replace the cap and that it will then function well. It and its case are in beautiful shape.
I've never owned a 1 degree spotmeter before.

Congratulations on you “new” meter. I have one and really like it. Hopefully a battery cover will turn up, otherwise could you jury rig something. You might try Richard Ritter or Quality Light Metric and see if the have a replacement.

Thanks Roger. I spoke this afternoon with George at Quality Light Metric and he thinks he has a used replacement that he can sell to me.

Mine was a Craigslist purchase and was off a few stops, sent it to George and had him go through it and recalibrate it. It’s been work like a champ ever since.

Some vacuum bottle stoppers & the associated vacuum tool. These are designed for keeping wine fresh, but should work equally well to prevent developer oxidation on storage

Just received 150 plastic slide mounts for use with Stereo Realist pics. I figure this will be close to a lifetime supply.

A pile of filters, adapters, hoods and miscellaneous doo-dads from a camera store in Queens.

Six rolls each of two Rollei films I’ve been meaning to try: Retro 80s and 400 Infrared from the same camera shop.

One Hewes and three Kindermann reels, a wrist strap for my Zorki-4 (why does this camera not have strap lugs?!?), a series VI/43mm adapter and a nifty plastic box for five rolls of 120 from Ebay.

Busy week.

A couple of books: the catalogue for the (outstanding) Don McCullin show at Tate Britain and The Portrait & The Moment by Mary Ellen Mark (Aperture Masters of Photography series).

A Graylab 900 programmable timer for cheap. Power cord was cut off at the body. Be interesting to see if it just needs a new cord.

I bought a Beseler stainless steel tank brand new, never used with a Kindermann quick pour lid and a Kindermann reel. Then I bought another from the same bloke. The price was too good to refuse. I already had two 120/220 Kindermann reels (which I bought brand new for about 5 bucks each about 9 years ago) which I hadn't been able to find a tank wide enough to hold. So now I have two brand new tanks and four brand new reels. Laughing like a fat spider in the sun.
