Speedo 805 pack for $220, like new. Just a fantastic little pack when you don't need a ton of light or for secondary stuff (fill, hair, details) or when using grids. Happy camper.

I'd really like the tiny 405, too...

Traded my beater FM2n for a fairly decent FE2. Paid $8, plus tax. Before that, bought a parts FM, a top cover for said beater FM2n, and a MC-20 remote cable. $40 for all of that.

I did stupid this month. I bought a Fuji GF670, a Fuji GSW690III, and a Canon TS-E 24mm II. Now if I could only afford film...

I finally broke down today and picked up a Canon EOS Rebel K2 w/ 28-90mm lens for $50 from the local camera store as a lightweight hike and bike camera. The whole kit only weighs 1-1/3 lbs ready to go, and my neck already thanks me.

Is that one of the lenses with the tumor on the side?

Okay, I just got even stupider. I found myself a nearly mint condition F4s. I wanted it. I said No. I closed the browser and went to bed. I got back up again and bought the damn thing. Only problem is I don't have any Nikon lenses. What to do, what to do...

My suggestion would be to buy a Nikon lens next.

A lonely bag of Microdol-x from a local camera store. The first roll sure has a different look to the negatives than the 510-pyro I have used the last 6 months.

I'm excited to try a 35mm film back on a Diana camera. That should be a hoot. Going to run some trusty HP5+ through it first, which I know inside and out, and then onto the Kentmere 400 that I also ordered, along with some FX-39 to process it all with. I'll also have a vessel to shoot all that 35mm color film that's collecting dust.

For one a Konica IIIa with case. The case is scruffy, but it protected the camera which is in lovely condition. Shutter speeds sound good, lens clear, that wonderful VF is wonderful.

Then a Nikonos III with the 35mm f2.5 and the 80mm f4. I've had it checked out by Southern Nikonos and its good to 50 meters. I also scored the underwater meter housing and the fitting Sekonic L 86 selenium meter. Jacques Cousteau beckons to me from The Silent World.....

Don't worry. Did the same thing. Not as minty, but a late model F4E. Offered $85. Was going for $105. Roberts Camera countered with $99.00. Counteroffered with $92.50 shipped. They accepted. Also have a DP-11 coming from them for Sover Wong to go onto an F2 Anniversary body that he had shipped here. KEH sold me a Nikkormat FT2 that needs foam for $19.50, plus shipping.

Tell me about this camera. It makes four exposures per roll, right? How's the quality? I'm really curious about it.

Wow, how time flies, my apologies for such a slow reply. Yes 4 exposures per roll. The camera quality is very good, with cnc machining of the body components and high quality hardware. It is a hard to wind, but manageable. The winding are nicely made but could be a little larger in diameter. Film takes a little practice to load and is best done in dim light. Because of the length of the image you have to unwind a lot of the backing paper to get to the take up spool. I did have some fogging on the first frame on my first two rolls. It's also tricky to feed the backing paper through the film path but I manage even with my beat up carpenters fingers. I did just add a pair of forceps to the kit, which should help. The shutter(s) work well and have magnets to keep them from opening accidentally.

The image quality is also good although I've had a few inconsistent results. A couple rolls have been a little softer on the outer portions of the frame (left and right sides). Not sure what's going on, camera movement maybe or maybe the long expired film from unknown sources that I've been using. Just shot a roll of TMY expiration 2018 and it quite good, pretty consistent "softness" throughout the frame. I don't have a scanner but will attach a quick and dirty iPhone image to give you an idea.

Still try to get my head around the 6x17 format and the curved film plane. After shooting 35mm, 6x6, 4x5, WP, and 8x10 this is take a little time. The camera also has a very wide field of view, 140° IIRC, which is interesting. Overall I'm quite pleased with the camera and am having a great time shooting with it. My biggest problem is how to print the images. I currently us a public darkroom that only goes up to 4x5. Could rent time at another darkroom that goes up to 8x10 but at $15/hr that adds up quickly. I do have a 5x7 enlarger so maybe I'll finally get of my butt and build a darkroom.

Thank you very much for telling me about the camera! I really appreciate the effort you put into writing all that.

I too would need to find a way to enlarge the negatives, as I only have a 4x5 enlarger. It wouldn't be the end of the world to crop the sides, which you say may turn out soft anyway. I don't need the full 6x17 image for my panoramic work, but maybe a 5x7 machine is in my future...

I've got some thinking to do...

I have a 6x17 RSS camera as well and really like it. Although, as mentioned, how to enlarge the negatives is probably the main issue for most people. My enlarger only does up to 6x7 so at the moment I'm doing contact prints which is working well enough for me. I'm currently thinking about 6x12 options and/or a 4x5 enlarger, but the latter is difficult to find in Japan.
