You've gone digital or just used it for the event?

I just use the evil 0-1-1-0 monster for specific purposes, like shooting an event, or if a client specifically requests faster turnaround than I can achieve with film. But otherwise, I'm still committed to an analog workflow. You'll pry my Rolleiflex out of my cold, dead hands.

6 Sub C 2500mAh 1.2V Ni-Cd Rechargeable Batteries to rebuild the battery pack of my Metz 402 flash, the old pack is barely holding charge now but has provided many years sterling service.

Rokkor 58/1.2...what a hunk of glass!

Another 5 liter bucket of Ilford Hypam, at the local camera store called West Photo. These guys are great and I do anything I can to support them, even though I spend a tad bit more.

I also had them develop some of my 35mm C-41 film since I ran out of C-41 developer at home. They did an OK job, but the negs are much dirtier than when I process at home.

Facts and Formulae Clippings from a 1936 London Periodical

These were gifted, not bought. Someone has very carefully cut a couple of hundred little facts and formulae clippings from a magazine put out around 1936 (2nd September 1936 is mentioned on the second Index Card), and pasted them onto 3.5x5 inch cards and filed them according to subject matter. There are general photographic knowledge tidbits as well as formula for various situations, whether it be fine grain negative developers, print reduction formulas, toners or bleaches. There's a listing of the main chemicals used, along with their uses, storage life, the safest strength that can be made in solution and if any alternative chemicals can be used in their place. Amongst all of the developers, stop baths, fixers, print and negative reducers and intensifiers there are the 'Maker's Formulae' from Agfa, Barnet, Gavaert, Ilford, Kodak, Voigtländer, and Zeiss Ikon, and others.

As the photos below will attest, I'm an awful photographer, so it's just as well I'll have these to scan, OCR and catalogue for entertainment over the next thirty years!

So, what do you mean by "last photography related purchase"? I don't know what my last purchase will be!

I remember my 50'th birthday present was the last camera I would ever need...

Pack of Portra 400, Tetenal C41 color kit, 5 TMAX 400. Rollei Vintage 111 24x30 cm. Tetenal Ultrafin T developer. 500ml distilled water for cyanotypes pure chemicals, to make at home. Fabriano Rosa Spina paper for cyanotypes.

A Penncrest (JC Penney?) 777 35mm Slide Projector, in original box. The box has a couple "Atlas-Rand Corporation" stamps on it.

Not a purchase, though. I'd thought we'd found all the photography equipment at my late grandparent's house, but my mom dug this out of some storage area I'd not looked in. I already have my grandfather's slides and projector table/stand, and I know a screen is floating around somewhere.

A fifth of 15 year old Macallan single malt scotch. Helps when shooting the breeze with my photo friends

The new book: Group f.64 by Mary Street Alinder.

I was about to make a run out for paper and film, but heard she was doing a talk nearby...

Knew the last corner of my membership card would be clipped for sure if I didn't go, so I changed course.

It was an intimate gathering, her presentation was brilliant! She spoke confidently and knowingly about each of the members, finished off with a couple photos from each with background music by Ansel Adams...

We got a chance to joke a bit before she had to go. She didn't bring membership cards but had been thinking about doing that.

A couple boxes of camera gear. Mostly Nikon stuff. Came from the estate of Brian Williams (microbee on eBay). Most of the stuff is parts, but a few of the lenses are looking promising, surprisingly. Just resurrected a 24/2.8 AI Nikkor that will need to have its rear element replaced, but, otherwise is in decent shape, now that it's back together.

Yesterday I bought two 19.5 x 25.5 inch sheets of Canson Vidalon Vellum. I am hoping to turn them into calotypes that will print better than Canson Marker.

Picked up some early 70s Minolta bits, will likely sell all but the hood (original hood for the 58/1.2 with metal focus ring).

20 rolls of Ilford HP5+
100 sheets of Ilford FB WT 8"x10"
50 sheets of Ilford FB WT 9 1/2"x12"
and a couple of shutter release cables

Just had some 120 E6 processed (32 rolls of E100G) as well as some 35mm black and white (yes, I know I should be embarassed at having someone else do my black and white, but work is keeping me busy, and when I do have leisure I would rather be shooting than processing film). Total injection into the Vancouver economy: $373 CDN.
