He's right, buddy. Plus, I think you should start a thread (or just continue on with this one) to update us on the progress. I want to see a final picture showing you under red light while focusing up an 8x10 negative on that monster, with chemistry out, ready to print.

I'd love to have the space to set one of these guys up. Unfortunately, I'm locked into a totally reworked ex-laundry room in a basement that's built around a 4x5 enlarger. Every cubic centimeter was planned for and utilized. It's a great darkroom, best I've ever had, but I'd need to build a new room on the house to add anything more to it.

Ken

Ken, because of the way threads tend to turn in "strange" directions here, I've chosen to start a thread about the restoration only on the LF forum as well as a separate wanted thread looking for a few minor parts, I think it's time you joined.

I'll stop talking about it here, it's obviously an unwelcome topic to share in this thread.

Glad a few enjoyed my share.

Fair enough. I'll jump over there and take a look.

Adorama's "house brand" RC paper. I'll be damned, it's nice, good tone, deep blacks.

I go through a lot of 8x10 when "strategizing" a print, filtering, dodging, etc, even if the final will be 16x20 fiber, I like to dial in the basics a little more affordably. This stuff is half the price of Ilford and does a great job. Got several keepers from my last roll of grab-camera shooting.

VERY happy.

Oh, this week two different Minolta HiMatic rangefinders joined the club... kind of smitten!

Cleaner to clean up the enlargers I bought some time ago (getting closer to printing). A while ago I bought a small pile of Adorama's paper to get myself going. Glad to hear someone thinks it's good  (I also have some Ilford & Kodak, but will use the Adorama until I'm up to speed.)

A used Schneider 6X loupe for looking at my 35 slides, I recently also bought as 4X one for 120 and 6X7 slides, even second hand they're expensive.

A Cambo SC-1 (2x3 view camera) bundled with lenses and stuff. One could well ask what I intend to do with three of them. The two I already have are enough but one of the lenses in the bundle appeals. I plan to sell the bits and bobs, the other lens and the camera itself.

Three 357/303 batteries, even though the Pentax 110 only needs 2.

Regarding that Adorama paper - still very pleased with the value. Even if you don't use it for a final print, it's great for dialing it in. But the blacks are deep, it's working great for split-filter printing for detail in the highs but whites that pop. I'm not a giant fan of RC paper but my test prints with it are great when a friend sees what I'm working on and wants a print, and the surface finish is nice. About half the price of ilford and 3-day shipping is cheap.

Hmm odd, someone once told me that a really good way to get film to slide better is to take some pencil lead and run the pencil lead around the edges of where the film touches the real, and I guess it sort of a little bit more glide, but I never tried it, I generally don't have trouble.

I think I found the source of my problem - I was actually trimming TOO MUCH off the corners of the rolls, so the end was curling up on itself and getting stuck. Problem (hopefully) solved; but I still have two more reels on the way. Can't have too many of them.

I never trim my ends. Just make sure the curly bit is clipped straight and the film is cut between the perforations not inside of them.

This is 120 film, not 35mm. 35mm rolled on just fine.

I should have qualified "if there are perforations"

Then again, I don't cut any of my 120 film at all, I just roll it on as it comes, I do take the tape off, and I do use my nail and sort of depress the extra bend in the center part of the film and just so to run my nail over it until it's a little straighter, but that's it.

A roll of Kodak Royal Gold 400 expired in 2000. Well, I didn't buy it, my aunt sent it via my mother. She either got it at a thrift store or found it in her house.

Chamonix 4x10. Should arrive any day now!

Nice! You'll love it! Such a good camera!! I opted for the 8x10 and simply cut a dark slide in half for 4x10 work but it does make doubt wide angle shots with the 210mm and 150mm difficult as the bellows become difficult to work with on full rise and fall, but there's just enough room for both fortunately!

Good luck!!

And on the tiny end of things I just bought a pack of 35mm sleeves, getting tired of having to use an xacto knife on the "ultima" sleeves that they can't seem to cut properly, definitely not buying those again.... Plain old thin ones for me from now on.

Besides film and some fiber paper, I got a Polaroid Cube to mess with which should be interesting. I imagine lots of ground glass pictures in my near future.
