Just got a Nikon F3 back from Bill Moretz of Pro Camera in Charlottesville, VA. where he un-jammed the shutter and repaired some corrosion around the battery compartment. Took about two weeks and was done at a very reasonable cost. Now a set of new seals from Jon Goodman and I'll be good to go.

I'll tear into many older mechanical cameras without hesitation, but felt that the F3 demanded a professional to refurbish. I highly recommend Pro Camera and Bill Moretz.

13x18 (inner dimensions) contact printer frame for €25. This is enough to print 10x15 negatives.

Thanks for the rec. I was just thinking (literally about 20 minutes ago) that I should start thinking about getting a CLA for my F3.

A lightbox table. Over here in New Zealand, not much film stuff are on the auctions, I am perplexed where have they all gone, to the rubbish bin? They have the odd rimu home made thick lightboxes though. But even that needs shipping to the capital city, they are often DIY work from smaller towns. Auckland have some proper ones occasionally but often they seller won't send the thing.

Also got 4 rolls of Kodak Portra. Have not shot much C41, have done more with slides and b/w so it will be a learning experience

Bought from the USA and shipped to NZ since they cost 2x in here.

Thank you. That is valuable advice for USA residents who need repairs. After all, many of our film cameras are going on 40 or more years old.

FYI, it was $95 USD for those repairs, but I am close enough to pick it up, so no shipping cost.

I also ordered a set of light seals from Jon Goodman for $11 shipped, so I got off relatively cheap, all things considered...

I went nuts this last weekend. I traded in a bunch of stuff and bought the latest nikon 70-200 VR ED E AFS F .....LSMFT (Lucky Strike Means Fine Tobacco ).
I also put in an order for a soon to be released retro style digital camera, I'm not going to say more as my wife may be monitoring this channel.

Gee! Forty or more years old. Is that really old for a Hasselblad 500CM or a Leica M3/M2? Both my Hasselblad and the Leicas are fifty and more years old and going strong. I figure both are good for another 50 years and it will have been worth someone's time to have learned to repair both if needed. Of course, by that time they will have belonged to someone else for quite some time.............Regards!

Lost or stolen, my Fuji GF670 camera has disappeared. I just replaced with a mint Plaubel Makina 67. Only a few more frames to go for initial roll. What I like about the Makina are what I disliked about the Fuji. I was often unsure shot taken with Fuji because electronic leaf shutter and release were so silent and smooth as to be undetectable. The Makina makes a very audible click and clunk. Furthermore, the Fuji was too light and awkward to hold steady easily with such a long lens. Holding the Makina feels like holding a solid piece of equipment and easy to hold steady.
Also bought several necessary accessories: UV filter to protect lens, rubber lens shade, yellow filter and a Nikon pinch lens cap as improvement over Plaubel lens cap.

An Epson V500 scanner. $14 at Goodwill. Has the film holders and some sort of auto document feeder but no power supply. I'll test it with the power supply from my v550 tomorrow - fingers crossed. If it doesn't work I'll just consider it a donation

Do you plan on processing yourself? I've developed Portra in a Paterson tank no troubles with a warm water bath in a small bucket. Get a thermometer and you have all you need. Or simply drop off at your local shop and have glorious prints made.

I've never tried Ilfosol-3, although I have a sealed container of it to test at some point.

We use it at 1+14 (for economy) HP5 EI 250. Seems to work quite well.

couid be a give away, freebee, book, equipment, film, chemistry
just something related to making photographs, or thinking about making photographs ...

Two (2) 'envelopes' (40 sheets)of Pictorico Ultra premium OH 'film' (for printing the 'slightly enlarged scans of my LF negatives for contact printing onto my 'home mixed' "Archaic emulsions on 'slightly textured 'Watercolour" paper... a lot more work (as I have stated before) but 'somehow' much more
'satisfying'

I got my new 5 liter Fuji Pro6 E6 kit today. I love Fujichrome, it's not real practical anymore. It makes for fabulous slide shows though!

A beautiful 135MM 4.5 MAMIYA tlr lens on E-BAY for &75.00.The seller noted that it had spots on the glass but otherwise was in good condition and working. I took a chance, took it apart and cleaned the lens surfaces with hydrogen peroxide. The lens now appears almost mint

Probably at this time just going to send off film for developing w/ large scans. Trying to find time to shoot is hard enough with running a business. Maybe in the future when I have more time I would like to do my own darkroom.
