Just received a Hassy 16;film back (old model with peep hole) which seems to be unused new old stock and expecting an A16 back in tomorrow’s mail. Have A16 back loaded with color slide film but decided additional backs for B/W would be convenient.
Can’t believe the low cost of these backs compared to back when they were sold new.

Screws and lumber. I am redoing my darkroom again to accommodate another enlarger. Long story. Lately I've been consumed with really getting my darkroom to flow . I've learned one thing . Don't use your darkroom to store all your darkroom stuff. I've a small utility room that I'm putting extra trays, tanks etc. Too darn hot to do much outside this weekend, perfect for remodeling. Then cleaning !
I did buy nice grip for my Hasselblad , came yesterday.

Its definitely assimilated into my large format workflow now, that latitude function on it is so simple yet handy.

That system has its own set of problems: fragile gels, light scattered from the side, does not provide polarization, ...

The first point is true enough; some care is required when handling. The scattering/glare is only an issue in certain kinds of light, and if you don't shield the gaps in the filter assembly (which is easy enough to do). However, your third objection is incorrect: you can get either square CPLs which slot into the filter holder like any other filter, or a separate 105mm screw-in CPL which attaches via a threaded ring adapter on the front of the assembly, like so:

You can get such 105mm CPLs from Lee, Heliopan, B+W & Formatt-Hitech. The slim Lee one which I have causes no vignetting down to 17mm on 35mm full frame.

My financial advisor (ME) put me into a EX+ Hasselblad 503 CW . I retired in April. I don't need it. But I am enjoying it. Right now I'm redoing my darkroom for the umpteenth time. I had to use a circular saw to cut into a couple studs. I hated to do it, but dust is under control.

People ask me if I like retirement. "Don't you get bored?" I just laugh. It's like being on summer vacation as a kid, best time ever.!

I bought a 1L C-41 Press Kit from Argentix.ca (29.95$CAD + shipping). Summer construction & traffic jams make it more and more difficult to get to my favourite lab for colour processing, so I thought that it was about time I do it myself.

Well, at this stage of the game, I don't plan to up-grade any of my equipment. Like all of my camera equipment, what I now own, including Hasselblad, is capable of taking better photographs than I am, so until I get "better" than my equipment, there is no reason to buy more. I have some LF lenses and adapters which will allow me to use the "drop-in" filter, which is on order, when it is not being used on the 50mm Hasselblad lens. I also have two "Pro-Shades", one of which will fit that lens if need be........Regards!

Not a purchase but a present from wife and daughter. An admirer of Arnold Genthe since 1960s, I always wanted an original copy of Old Chinatown, although I possess very nice prints of all the pictures made from the original negatives. Still, the reproductions in the original edition have a feeling absent from later slick paper reproductions. I am always amazed by these candid pictures considering the available technology. Book comes from Germany so who knows when it will be delivered. Even books seem to linger in EU customs. Book shipped but seller talking about delivery in August. And delivery from Japan in two or thee days...

Me too got a present from a friend: a Nikon F4 he dug out of a box of [supposedly] dead cameras. It’s very beaten, but looks OK.

Gave it a good cleaning with a soft brush, some naphtha to remove gunk from old adhesive labels that were stuck to the camera in the past... blew all the dust away, cleaned the mirror, focusing screen and viewfinder with cotton swabs and benzine.

Decided I should try it with film, but finally noticed the teeth in the film take up spindle are all broken, so the camera doesn’t push film in.
