An Exakta-mount Rodenstock Rotelar 180/4.5 preset lens. Wonderful condition.

Finally got a Summicron-M 35/2 (7-element, version 4) to use on one of my M6's. This one was CLA'd by Youxin and sold to me by a friend of mine. His results look great. It has a B+W UV filter which I may replace, since I can't clean it to my satisfaction, though no bad effects were evident on my friend's photos. Also, I won't be using the hood (which is barely visible in the finder). The reason: the clasps on it interfere with turning the aperture ring. Bad design. Lastly, look closely at this lens. It seems to have an apparent minor flaw or anomaly. I don't think it will affect anything. Can you find it?

The aperture index does not align with the focus index.
Hmmmm...

Correct. My friend, an experienced camera-repair guy, sent this lens and his M4 to Youxin, and made photos afterwards that looked great. Still, this bothers me. I've yet to use the lens.

Film, then some more film, then just ordered some more film. Will end up with 100 sheets of 11x14 HP5+, and another 100 sheets 8x10 (FP4+). With my other film on hand (120, 5x7,8x10,11x14) I'm all set film-wise set for April! I have 33 8x10 holders to load up (spitting them between FP4+, Kodak Copy Film, Acros, and some TMax400 possibly)

Wow - that's a lot for 8x10! Have you ever been tempted to try color? I know it's very expensive.

Not tempted with color in large format. I print directly from camera negatives in either carbon or platinum printing processes. Normally my choice of film is not so wide. FP4+ is my go-to film. Expands nicely for alt processes. Copy film expands to even greater amount so will be nice for scenes of relatively low brightness range. Acros for long exposures. Its low reciprosity failure rate makes its 100 ISO go a lot further.

I will be in Zion National Park all of April (artist-in-residence), so I am gearing up for that. I have 13 rolls of Acros 120 and some Tri-x. Also some 120 Tech Pan if I want to go crazy. (Rolleicord and a Brooks Veriwide100). I decided to leave the 4x5 at home. I only have six good 5x7 holders but might get a couple more cleaned up. I have ten 11x14 holders.

I use to run a lot of color negative film through my Rolleiflex. I'd print (RA4) up to 11"x11" occasionally...mostly of my boys.

Two items today -
  • Nearly mint condition Nikkor 400mm f/5.6 ED IF AI. Gorgeous lens.
  • Nearly mint condition Nikkormat FT-3. Except for an occasional "twitch" in the light meter needle before it "settles down", it's mint. Will go nicely with the aforementioned 400mm.

Trying some Arista EDU Ultra VC in both resin coated and fiber based, 8x10, for an anticipated weekend of my first go printing my 6x7s from the Mamiya RB67. I've got a plethora of what appear to be nicely exposed/developed negatives to choose from and I'm uber excited to get started!

Finally found a used, large Mayline drafting table ( at a price I could afford) so I can paint 32x40 inch photos.

A magical lens. I didn't believe the hype until I tried it.
It was always on my "want" list, but with improved zooms, and moving to digital, it moved to the back of my mind. At a local show last year, I found an AI-s version, and you are correct. The lens is phenomenal.

PK-13 for my 55/2.8 AIS Micro-Nikkor. Without the PK-13, the lens will give me a 1:2 reproduction ratio; with it I get a 1:1 ratio. My best macro lens, however, is a 40/2.8 Kilfitt Macro Kilar D (M42 mount) which goes from infinity to a 1:1 ratio at amazingly close distances. Not only is it sharp, its bokeh is the best I've ever seen.

Still, I have a PB-4 bellows (Nikon's best) for more serious work.

In re: RZ67.
On Thursday evening, I located the correct AE Prism for it from a dealer in Vermont. Should have it mid-week at latest.
Saturday, I went back to the local camera shop and bought a 50mm f4.5 WA, and a 250mm f4.5 tele for it, along with a Beattie 20/20 screen.

All set now!
