what waS your last photography related purchase?

Gitzo Studex tripod, complete with Gitzo Pan/Tilt head and, the best part, a White House Press Corps sticker on the leg.

I have one and it’s a great, sturdy tripod. A little heavy, but very good for an aluminum one.

Mine doesn’t have the White House Press Corps sticker, though.

I've actually been on a gear-buying binge lately because I'm kitting out an inventory for my Intro to Large Format students to use. I've bought additional film holders, another tripod in addition to this one, a Sinar A1 with 210mm Schneider lens, and a Speed Graphic so students can get a feel for different camera styles.

Score!!!

My Sinar F is atop a Gitzo Studex, but as you can see, I tore its nasty sticker off.

50/1.4 AF-D Nikkor for $77... Has a small chunk of the filter ring missing, but, other than that, is in good working order. F3 is currently wearing it, but it'll see use on most of my bodies, including the F and the D3.

More Polaroid film..I'm officially hooked!

Visited a clearence of an old boarding school today. Bought a mint looking Leitz Prado 500 projector (with 500 W bulb and built-in blower) with Elmar 1:2.8 / 50mm (nice for short distance projection).
Came with two wooden boxes (with about 100 -catalogued- 35mm colour slides each) 'Protected German Flora' and 'German capitals' (with slides from Munich, Berlin, Würzburg, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Bamberg).
Now it's time to have some tea and view those slides !

A 50-sheet box of Ilford Multigrade RC paper in 11x14” size, a pack of Fuji Neopan Acros 100 in 120 format, a changing bag, a pair of metal tongs, a bag of X-Tol (in fact, it come in two bags) and (finally!) a set of four Paterson trays for 16x20” paper.

Bought them yesterday at Ars-Imago in Zurich, Switzerland. Great little shop in a beautiful vicinity. Well, it’s not that little, but it’s packed with goodies for traditional photography, including alternative processes. The seller was the nicest guy on Earth and helped me through all of the shop as I decided what to buy.

I’m already at home in Brazil and have just finished unpacking. I’m tired, but considering an enlarging session for tonight. Or maybe I should just develop all the film I shot on the trip...

I'm preparing for a photo trip (with other photographers) so I've recently purchased a new back pack (still not perfect - they never are ...) "L" bracket, quick release plates, and probably a few other doodads. Oh, and film!

Some XP2 and Fujicolour Superia 400 in 35mm...I used it straight away while taking advantage of a sunny spell yesterday afternoon.

That is dedication to go so far for supplies!

But seriously, I just bought a Nikor stainless steel film developing tank and a 120 stainless reel. Until I get the enlarger lens to allow me to print my 6x4.5, 6x6 and 6x7 negatives, I have been shooting film to get used to the cameras and developing on a plastic reel and tank. BUT, I like inversion agitation and the reel had a habit of working its way up the spindle (despite the little clip being in place) and I ended up with about 1/4" of a roll of 120 out of the solution, so it was time for a change to the old standard.

Replacement RA4 Chemistry. Kodak Ektacolor developer replenisher 20 litre size and Kodak Ektacolor bleach fix, 20Litre size plus a bottle of developer starter and 10 Kodak 36 exp films C41 films.
The developer was to replace a disastrous attempt to get to grips with a larger kit of Tetenal RA4. It stained ever thing yellow including the borders and even a totally unexposed piece of paper.

There are no big trays to be found here in Brazil. In fact, there are no trays at all, since people that have any just use them!

I tried buying online, but the shipping costs are crazy. The solution was to buy when traveling abroad and get them here inside my baggage. It worked out really well. I padded them with clothes from every side I could. Not a single scratch!

On the last day of the trip, I knew we would be in Zurich to catch the plane back and dedicated a couple of hours to go to Ars-Imago, while my wife spent some money at Bahnhofstrasse.

A dark cloth (4ft sq), and a nice13.5cm f4.5 Preminar lens in a Compur, seems it may have been made by or for Zeiss - hard to tell if it's a triplet or Tessar type. The serial number if it is a Zeiss lens is 1927/8 which happens to be the year that the Preminar is advertise on 4 different ICA/Zeiss cameras, the shutter is older between 1914-20.

Just bought a nice looking Leitz Prado 250 Slide Projector + 8.5cm f2.5 Hektor Lens & Case off ebay. Had never even heard of them, but as soon as I saw it I had to have it, it’s just too cool.

An Exakta-mount Rodenstock Rotelar 180/4.5 preset lens. Wonderful condition.

Finally got a Summicron-M 35/2 (7-element, version 4) to use on one of my M6's. This one was CLA'd by Youxin and sold to me by a friend of mine. His results look great. It has a B+W UV filter which I may replace, since I can't clean it to my satisfaction, though no bad effects were evident on my friend's photos. Also, I won't be using the hood (which is barely visible in the finder). The reason: the clasps on it interfere with turning the aperture ring. Bad design. Lastly, look closely at this lens. It seems to have an apparent minor flaw or anomaly. I don't think it will affect anything. Can you find it?

C-41 kit from FPP.

Oddly enough going against the trend the 1 liter kit is priced lower than the last time I bought one a year ago.

a UV light exposure meter for measuring UV "units" either direct sunlight or under my home-built UV light box when contact printing prints using the 'archaic" photographic print processes.

Went to a small, local show today, and picked up a Gossen Luna Pro SBC, for the princely sum of $25. Replaces one I foolishly let go around six years ago.

However, that wasn't the best deal of the day though. After leaving there, and stopping at a small antique mall, I found a Soligor Digital Spot Sensor, which has been modified by Zone VI. Works perfectly, and for $50, I think I did all right.

A 135/4.5 lens set for my Mamiya C330s, likely to be used mainly for portraits. I found it advertised in a photo forum for a good price -- lenses and shutter in fine shape.
