Mortensen used it for his Leica shots. I just got a "Leica Manual"(1935) that has an advert. for Morgan Camera Shop (in Hollywood) that says they carry it( $1.25 for 32 oz). So what was it and who manufactured it- PLEASE.

Sorry, none of my old photo books dating back to the '60s lists Supersoup. Edwal had Super-12 and Super-20, but couldn't find anything on Supersoup.

Everything I've read so far suggests that it would be listed/advertised in/before 1935.

Whatever it was, development times were loooooooong, if you believe these notes--

Mortensen often used stand development. His motto was "expose for the highlights and develop for the shadows". Hence he developed to completion. He admitted that this would only work well for subjects with his lighting system, which amounted to getting the light source as close to the axis of the lens as possible.

If at all possible, every photographer should get a copy of Mortensen's The Model and The Command to Look.
