what to use as a neck strap on a Yashica D?

I am finding that my Yashica D stays home a lot as it is slightly hard to carry with me.

The camera originaly came with a neverready case, and there was a neck stap on the case. The camera itself has Very narrow lugs which were used to lock it in the case. Besides being awkward to take to camera in and out to change film, all the sewing on the case was falling apart and so I don't have it to use.

Attempting to use the case lugs to attach a neck strap does not work as the opening is too small. There are straps that are attached to cameras by the tripod screw, but a TLR would pop its finder hood if allowed to be carried upside down.

Are there any straps on the market to meet this niche application?

I'm not sure what the lugs on the D look like (I have a 124G) but Optech makes straps that have a wide, padded section for around your neck and there is an assortment of connector loops available to snap on each end. I believe some have a fairly small braided cord section -- maybe that could work? The other might be to use a split ring like was often used on 35mm cameras? (Just speculating here! )

I too have a 124G, and I use the same connector that's in this photo of a D. Works fine, but does rub a bit on the finish of the WLF sides. I've been meaning to change to the rings that are used on standard SLR's of the '70's, but haven't gotten around to it. Really, I think any of the split rings will work (round, triangular, D ring, etc).

anything with a 1/4" webbing end, a split ring, a latch like posted above, a guitar strap, whatever will fit.

i use a canon 5d lll strap. it looks so keeeewelllll.

An Op/tech connector with the small webbing will fit the slot in the camera strap lug. The connector like this-

I've also gotten the pro-loop connector to go through the slot. It takes some pushing but it can be done- it's shown here, second to last photo (and last photo shows other connector) (man, what a crappy web site Op/Tech has....)

Lots of cameras come with straps that use the small webbing.

And looking at the D case I have, the strap attached to it looks like it would fit the camera itself. Undo the rivet/connector and thread it through the lug.

Yashica D has a fairly narrow slit-like opening in the case lug but you should be able to get a steel split ring to fit that slot. Perhaps something in the 1/2 inch diameter size.
With that, you can attach whatever strap appeals to you.
