What to put in a Duaflex II? 100 or 400?

I bought a Kodak Duaflex II off auction here a few months ago. It cost me $10 since it looks like it's been kicked down the street.

Anyway, since I'm doing my own dev now I thought I'd respool some 120 film and run a roll through to see if the camera actually still works. From a little Googling it appears this Duaflex is fixed at 1/30 (-ish) and f11 (it doesn't have the aperture marks on the front.)

My question is, should I go with ISO 100 or ISO 400? I'll be doing mostly outdoor, sunny day stuff first to see if it's any good.

Outdoors 125 C-41 pulled to 100 be overexposed 2 stop on a sunny day. A one stop over exposure on a hazy day. A touch over expose on a cloudy day. And underexposed on on an overcast day by one stop. So you can see how bad 400 would be outdoors during the day.

As an editorial comment, there are too many good cameras in the world to be messin around with... Duaflexes. It was designed to be a crappy camera, well executed as a crappy camera, and it hasn't aged well. I have been tempted though.

When I get the urge to shoot something 'old', I reach for the rb Graflex or my Zeiss Trona, both pre 1930, both capable of producing better work than I can, both giving the film that little bit of age induce character.

To answer your question, I would shoot the 400 and stand develop in Rodinal 1+200 for several hours. That would be a unique look.

I went with Acros. Respooling took a few minutes was quite easy. The camera's shutter works 100% when the camera is turned upside down

Anyway - the photos came out okay, but it's far too much trouble to use it as an everyday camera. Back onto the mantel it goes

ISO 100 it is, Dan. I found my father's "good camera" (I had a Baby Brownie) a few months ago, and it is a Duaflex II.
