Folks

I've got a Bessa RF which I bought about 6 or so months ago from certo6, its now giving my trouble in cold weather. When its below -5C the shutter takes 30 or so seconds to do 1 second and sometimes it needs help too.

Certo has offered to have me send it back (I wrote to him today) but thinking about a few issues makes me wonder if its worth all the hassle. I've spent some time sorting the camera out structurally and now its quite a workable proposition (well in warm weather anyway).

The key problem is that I live in Finland. Here it will cost my a bit to post it to him, and worse I have to take it to customs to get a form filled out to allow it back into the country without getting shafted for tax (this is also calculated on the cost of postage!).

I am also concerned that Certo may not have lubricant which is suitable to the climate here (making it a waste of everyone's time).

So my options are to not bother with this and sell it to warmer climes (which leaves me without a nice compact folding camera) or spend some hundred euro on getting it overhauled by someone in Helsinki (and perhaps still have the problem).

Maybe I should sell it and get the Fuji ...

sigh

suggestions welcome

thanks

You must know better than me, but is there really not one single camera repairman in Finland who can do a simple CLA on a leaf shutter? This should not cost more than €100, your problem is certainly due to excessively viscous lubricant and is totally fixable. All repairmen will have low-temp lubricant, they of course need to be told that customers want this.
