What to bring to a big city?

IDK, I live in Brooklyn and take my film Leica out everywhere at all times. First, when your somewhere familiar there's more confidence nothing will happen, and second, having a Leica strapped diagonally on your shoulder is not noticeable anyway. It's all the other stuff that draws attention to the fact your a tourist and that's what marks you. I never carry a camera bag for this reason.

I prefer to travel light and just carry a camera and a few rolls of film in my pocket. Everything else stays at home.

SF is such a small city that it’s easy to walk the length and breadth of it, and a bag would only slow me down.

Don't shower for a few weeks while wearing the same clothes and no one will come near you.

They'll just assume you live there.
