Whitey:

I'd love to meet up with yuz guyz, but the Boss Lady has me working on the Summer Camp up in New Hampster this weekend. Maybe next time.

And I was going to bring those Scientific Lens Co lenses along, too.

Drew- sorry about the choppers. What if we brew the coffee weak and cut your food in little pieces?

Charley - next time it is! I'll keep doing this as long as people have fun coming down. There is no reason we couldn't meet up for a coffee some other time, though. PM me if you're interested. We can usually gather a small group for any excuse to talk cameras here in NE!

Give away and trade table growing more interesting by the hour, folks. I'm in a "clean it out" mood and I've started to go through the shelves and file drawers. Anyone interested in shooting some Kodalith 6556 type III film in 35mm, bring an empty camera. I have a film loader filled with the stuff and some empty (old, metal) cassettes. I loaded one and tested the film (supposedly belly-up some time in the 1980's) with a 25 minute 1/100 Rodinal stand dev. and it works fine (lazy man's testing system) -high contrast, but no visible fog. I also have a partial box of what I think is the same stuff in 4x5- this time "use before July 1972." Hell, that's only 40 years ago- let's give it a try.

Hey everybody. The breakfast is getting folks worked up about early drive times. How about we eat at 9 instead of 8? That way those of us who like early morning light can go shooting before the killer French Toast.

I have to be at Quassy that day, but I am going to see what the times look like, maybe I can still make it in the AM.

You could look here, or follow these:

To cottage
From 395 south:
Exit 77, left at exit, right at light about 3/4 mile down (just after Dunkies') -Cross Rd
Go to Rt 1 (at base of small hill,) a mile or so after crossing Rt 95 - Bear left on 1

Proceed past cemetery and post office to the light at Avery lane (Silva's Package Store- buy booze if needed after long drive and Whitey's directions) and then take the right onto Avery Ln.

For the cottage, go straight through the next light onto Great Neck Rd. There will be signs for Eugene O'neill Theater. This is Rt 213, if numbers matter to you. Go about 2 miles to a new school at Goshen Rd- take a right. There is a small graphic sign for a boat launch on the corner. #45 is 1/2 mile on right, at the corner of Perry Ave. Voila! The beach is another 1/2 mile down the street.

For the When Pigs Fly restaurant, take a right on Rt 154, (Rope Ferry Rd.) toward Niantic, instead of going straight onto Rt 213. It's down about 1/2 mile on the right, just after the fire station.

From Rt 95:
Take exit for Rt 1 north toward Waterford. Exit 75. If you are coming south on 95, this entails a small loop left after you are off the highway and reversal of directions- follow the signs! Heading North on 95 it's a straight shot. Follow Rt 1 for a few miles to the afore-mentioned cemetery, post office and package store.

Breakfast is at 9 AM, if you're coming.

Corrections!

Two things
First, the road to the When Pigs Fly Restaurant is Rt 156, not 154. I wasn't looking at a map when I wrote the directions and screwed it up. Mea culpa.

Second, if it rains, the party will go on hold and I will publish another date. The house is very small and an outside party is really the only option. A day at the beach when you are wet and cold is no fun, so let's all do the no rain chant and don't come by if you wouldn't want to sit outside in whatever weather we're having. The zip code is 06385, in case you want to do a weather.com look-up.

OK! The weather wonks now have it down to between 20 and 30% chance of "scattered thunderstorms." We can handle that.

OK. Last comment before I go off-line for 4 days (No hook up at the beach as of right now.) I will be telling the restaurant that we have 8 + for breakfast at 9 on Saturday. They will say "that's nice- we don't take reservations" but then they will do everything they can to move tables together and clear them out for us. Nice folks, just not a very formal place. The weather is still iffy but weather.com gives us a pretty good chance of at least some clear bits. As I indicated a few comments ago- it's a small place and you should expect that we will be outside. If it looks like that is a bad idea for you, even with a couple of pop-up shelters, don't come. I'll try for a rematch later in the summer, though other family members are starting to take dibs ion various weekends and it gets crazy in August.

The cottage phone is 860-442-0865

Oh dear... came down with a wicked bad cold and migraine last night, operating on very little sleep, all courtesy of my younger son who's been sick most of the week and missed three days of his last week of school. He's better now, and made it to school yesterday for "step up" day, but now I'm down for the count. Don't think we're going to make it... will give you guys a call. Disappointed...

Ah, Suzanne, we missed you guys but plodded on anyway. A good time was had, though it is devolving into an eat-fest rather than a photo-fest, I fear. Get in touch when you guys have a free weekend day and come down on your own- the family Revy is always welcome.

And thanks to everyone who had faith in the weather and showed. Glad we could see you all.
