inspired by this thread : (there was a url link here which no longer exists)

I noticed some mentioning that they were more interested in getting more lenses than cameras, so here is your chance to tell..

I have a lot of lenses, and I don't need any more!.

but having the money for it, I'd love to have a Pinkam&Smith portrait lens, a bigger Verito than I have, and a much bigger Darlot than I have..(and a big Unar, Dynar, Xenar type D, kodak portrait.. and the list gors on...)

most of the lenses I am looking for are soft focus lenses. I have no idea why I am lusting for those, as I have several allready... maybe it is an excuse for not taking pictures ?..

Not really exotic lenses, but....

I would like a Mamiya Sekor-C 50mm, so I can finally do wide angle shots with my RB67. Also a Nikkor 28mm f/2.8 AF so I can do the same with my F100. Maybe the new Sigma 50mm f/1.4 AF for Nikon.

I would love a smaller focal length Wollensak VITAX (#1 I think) that would cover 4x5, but having seen what Clay Harmon does with his Whole Plate camera and the Vitax #2 or 3?, it is an amazing lens!

I WAS lusting after the last 8x10 lens I wanted... a Nikkor APO 610mm process lens. I just received it and sent it on it's way to S.K. Grimes today for mounting in a Calumet 6x6 metal lens board. Rock on!!! That gives me the 4 lenses I've wanted for years now for my C1 and NO excuses. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to brag, Gandolfi.

you're welcome.
Personally that isn't the kind of lens I love, but that's ok, I guess..

I have some sharp lenses - now I want beautiful/soft/strange lenses - and with great names..(silly isn't it)

There are three lenses I want for my 8x10. A 600mm, a 450mm and a 210mm.
If I had've had the brains I would've bought the 450 when the Australian dollar was at 93 cent to the US dollar. Silly me.

Yeah, Gandolfi, I suppose it's a little on the straight forward/sharp side considering the lovely soft work you do. Right up my alley though!

Of course if the opportunity ever arose for me to get a killer deal on a 30inch lens I'd have to take a long hard look at my wallet....

I’ve been longing for a Heliar for quite a while. But I have to contend, at least for some time, with the 210mm coated Goerz Process Dagor I received today…

well, let me count ....

I have a 7,5cm - 13,5cm - 18cm - two 24cm - 25cm and 30 cm heliars...

they are not so difficult to obtain..

I LOVE to have an Universal Heliar, though.. (but who wouldn't?)

I'd love a Universal Heliar in a longer focal length but don't hold out too much hope of getting one. I've got a 150 and 240 Heliar but both are in sunk mounts which are a little difficult to adapt to a lensboard. What I am really burning to get is a Pentax 85mm soft focus (for 35mm). They are really quite rare, although not as expensive as any of the 85/1.4 telephotos. It seems bizarre that the 120 soft for the 67 is readily available and quite cheap - $200 to $300 on a good day on eBay - yet the 85/2.2 or 85/2.8 is almost impossible to find. maybe it was just too esoteric for 35mm shooters while 67 shooters kept the 120 in the bag for weddings.

Well my situation is the opposite. I have some dream lenses and never use them but they are so nice I can't bring myself to sell them.
Gathering dust in my camera closet:
210 Gold Dot Dagor
135 Wide Field Ektar
5.6 90mm Super Angulon in Linhoff shutter
450 Nikkor

What really fills all my needs is the 355 Red dot Artar and the
210 Nikkor

I would like to have the entire set of Commercial Ektars, what ever that may be. Currently have two, the 210 and the 300. Why? Dunno for sure. They work just as well as any more modern lens. Maybe its just nostalgia.

I want a portrait lens for my Crown Graphic. Something in the 240mm range. I don't know enough about the specific lenses to be lusting after any particular one. I'll take whatever is cheap & hope that I like it.
I also need a 135 macro for my Pentax 67.

A 21mm LTM, Leica or VC, with viewfinder, after that any 35, 50, 90 and 135 LTMs that improve significantly over the FSU kit I use now.

Rodenstock Apo-Grandagon N 35mm f/4,5.

It would full fill my desire to go ever wider and force me to get the 6x12 RFH I've been lusting after. Sadly the combined cost of 3k used has been a show stopper.

For my 8X10 - a 24" portrait lens with not less than a 6 or so max aperture.

The 35mm for my Mamiya 645s.

The 120mm macro for my Mamiya 645s.

The 90mm f/2.0 Macro for my Olympus kit.

Why - I cannot explain!

Good morning;

I feel so fortunate with my 35 mm lenses. I actually feel that I have just about anything I really need for them. Oh, it might be nice to have a 24 mm for the Nikon F, or maybe even a 20 mm, but I do have 28, 35, 50, 55, 58, 105, 135, and 200 mm now for it. For the Minolta bodies, they range from 16 mm to 1000 mm. It might be nice to have a 7.5 mm fish eye, or a real MInolta 17 mm f 4.0 rectilinear in place of the Tamron 17 mm f 3.5 rectilinear, but there is no longer the feeling of a "need" for them; just a sort of "it might be nice to have" kind of a feeling. Am I getting jaded? Is this feeling normal? Should I be seeking the counseling services of a Professional Board Certified Camera Merchant to see if there is anything that can be done about this feeling? Can it be eliminated or at least reduced to a level that I can live with?

Of course, it we go to the 2 & 1/4 Square or the 4 by 5, then there are still some needs. It would be nice to find a 45 or 55 mm, 120 mm, and a 250 or 300 mm in a Pentacon Six mount, and for the 4 by 5, a 150 mm and a 300 mm would be a nice addition to the 90 mm WA and the 210 mm portrait lens that I have now.

The last 35 mm lens that I received was an 85 mm f 1.7 Rokkor to go along with the 85 mm f 2.0 Rokkor already here. It was nice, but the feeling of triumph was not there. It was not at all like getting the 35 mm f 2.8 Rokkor Shift CA last year. That was a feeling of accomplishment. Finding a Tamron 300 mm f 2.8 for a nice price was also enjoyable. Using the Tamron 300 mm has also been fun. It is much more tolerant of atmospheric conditions than the 1000 mm lens. With the 1000 mm, you start to notice every movement of the air and every thermal between you and the subject. Finding the right weather conditions to allow the use of the sujper long lenses has taken much of the enjoyment of having them. Again, perhaps I am becoming jaded.

Finally having a "system" of lenses that allows me to choose just the "right" one for a specific application has shown me just how specialized most of those lenses really are. There is a lot to be said for having a simple kit with just three (3) lenses.

Will I buy more lenses? Probably, but most likely in MF or LF, and it is looking like there will not be too many in those categories. Maybe I am getting old.

I'd really like a Zeiss 25mm for my Nikon And some lenses for the Mamiya 7 system. Should one of them come mounted on a M7II it wouldn't put me off
Then in LF You demonstrated some interesting lenses when we met in Vrå that would be nice to have too.
Kind regards
Søren
