New to APUG and large format. Just bought a Pacemaker Speed Graphic on flea-bay. It is in good shape with the Schneider 135mm f/4.7 lens. It has the Graflok back. I need film holders but don't know which will fit the Graflok back. I checked Graflex.org wasn't very specific. I think that the spring loaded focusing panel frame pulls back to accept all Graphic sheet film holders, but I'm not sure. Can any Graflex users out there help me get started with this camera? Recs for links for info? Does anyone have any holders they would like to sell? Thanks,

Kent

Since you mentioned that you have a spring-loaded camera back, any modern double sheet film holders should work with that back.

Hi Kent,
If your camera has the Graflok back, then you can use any "Graphic" 4x5 holder, #1268 Grafmatic or any roll holder that says 4x4 "Graphic" on it.

I assume you meant "4x5 Graphic" -- is this a different size than modern Fidelity, etc holders? If I was home I could make a quick comparison.

Ooooops! And crud!

In the same vein as this topic;

I screwed up and mixed up my epay items- wound up 'accidently' winning a
springback Graflex Speed 4x5 instead of the 2x3 Century I had wanted…
The Question: Can I use a Grafmatic "45" in the springback?? I only have the Graphic version of Grafmatics;
Without the lip- will the unit fit under the spring?

I really need to double up on the ADD meds. :tongue:

Thanks. Bob K

Hi Vaughn,

I meant to say 4x5 Graphic holders as opposed to GRAFLEX (the ones for the SLRs). The modern Fidelity, Lisco and the other holders are fine as long as they ain't the holders with the groove down the side.

I do have six of the "4x5 GRAFLEX FILM" holders -- also marked "FOLMER GRAFLEX CORP USA" on the other side. They have the groove down the sides. I don't quite know what I will do with them. They are unused, but are a little dusty, etc from storage. I thought they came with a Korean War era military Speed (possibly a Crown) Graphic, but I ended up with everything but the camera/lens. I still have the like-new wood tripod that tucks into the lid of the case.

A fun camera I have is the Graflex 22 -- a 120 film TLR from when Graflex bought the Ciroflex folks. I also have a old wood Speed Graphic by Folmer Graflex Corporation. The curtain shutter still works -- it is amazing. It has a Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar, 1:4,5 f= 15cm in a Compur shutter. The black face of the shutter blends in with the black of the rest of the camera -- probably not the original lens, I suppose.

But keeping the f's and ph's straight over the various ages and lines of gear is interesting!

Thank you to all who replied. On a lark I bid on some (new in box, never used) Graflex Riteway Graphic 4x5 film holders (No 1284) on epay today and won the items. Now I hope these will fit my Graflok back foe my Pacemaker Speed Graphic. We will see...

Kent
